Seattle City Light has explained the short outage last night that a few people have e-mailed to ask us about: According to Scott Thomsen, about 80 homes were without electricity for just under an hour because of a pole fire. The incident is on last night’s archived 911 log as “wires down” in the 3100 block of SW 105th (map). P.S. This is being discussed in the WSB Forums, with an added detail: “Fried bird.”
we live about 5 blocks from there. our power went out, but only for a few seconds. heard a loud bang at the same time the power went out.

later, our cable tv/internet/telephone was out for a couple hours. wonder if the two incidents are related?
We were lucky, our outage was only about a second here in Arbor Heights. We were curious about the cause – thanks WSB! (Have witnessed the bird accident type of thing before – it’s pretty sad but fortunately not too common).
