What happened to 88 Deli?

Thinking of a bowl of soup, I looked for the 88 Deli. It’s vanished without a trace. The storefront is fiberboard and tarpaper. Did they move?

Not to worry peeps! The owners of the building are refacing the old brick facade with a more modern planking look. The hair salon is still operating, but Bahn Mi 88 took a few days off. Pretty dusty. They should be up and running, according to one of the construction guys I talked to on Friday, in about a week and half.

They shall return! With a new building front and awning, from what I was told.

Scared me there for a minute!! 88 Deli is some of the best Pho I’ve ever had, and like JoB I simply love their Tom Kha. It’s truly perfect.

I was just there a few days ago, so I would have been shocked had the owner not said anything about an imminent closure, considering how often we’re there.

Glad to hear they’re taking some time off and getting a little facelift. Never a bad thing to do, and that block could use a bit of an update.
