    Hey folks,

I know a tree referral post was up here a while back but I lost track of it.

I’ve got two medium sized maples that need to come down. I’ve got one high bid but I suspect I should be able to get it done cheaper than this.

Anyone have recommendation for REASONABLY priced but still skilled people?

I’ve used Stonehedge too – which I love but just can’t afford right now.

    Thanks in advance for recommendations…

You may want to check with Northwest Botanicals, they can do smaller jobs but if they can’t do it they can probably recommend someone.

I wouldn’t skimp on tree pruning, but removal is another matter. Basically, you just need to be sure the company is licensed and bonded, as this is dangerous work with the potential to cause serious damage to life and limb (sorry, couldn’t resist the terrible pun) or property damage.

There are several arborists that operate in West Seattle that might be a bit less expensive. I don’t have links or contact info, but they are Blooma Tree Experts, Jason Mallett, or Bill Wanless. You can also check the Plant Amnesty website for approved arborists/tree companies.

I got three bids to remove a huge Holly tree that was in part braced by a very old and thick ivy vine. They also bid on humungous clump of ivy that turned out to be a 5 ft tall stump of a tree.

    I hired:

    Urban Arborist, LLC

    9513 Phinney Ave N

    Seattle, WA 98103

    206.930.1427

    Urbanarborist@gmail.com

    Contractor # URBANAL896BU

They did a terrific job! Very affordable. Cleaned up my yard and policed my neighbors yard too.

I highly recommend Stonehedge. You get what you pay for and they are the best. Their fees are industry standard.
