As I said in the other topic; no one knows who is what at these events. There is no test. At our get together last month; no one asked, no litmus test.

However, at the meetup last weekend, there were both written and oral litmus tests. It was really intense.

    :)

Bayou, I hope you can make it to the next White Center event!

I’m pretty much always amused by life, JoB! And on this particular thread we definitely needed some levity. :)

Yes, we all passed! There’s no flunking in White Center, Socl, only “Living the Dream!”

Guess I am going to have to study up. Since I was not at the last meeting, I certainly do not want to make a poor showing. Now off to Wikipedia to look up Stonewall and Alice B Toklas…lol

GHO – Thanks for not pointing me out…lol.

I think in my laziness, or too much beer while reading the posts, I saw ‘soclwrkrinmotn’ and kept thinking “socket wrench in motion?” I knew he was a social worker, but maybe he was a mechanic too…lol.

I’m glad all of you guys are enjoying yourselves. However, the main point of the topic was re-enforced.

*I think they were simply using the meeting as an excuse to attack people they clearly do not understand*

This comment was allowed to stand and even agreed with. Is that really ok with all of you?

RS- I certainly intend to come to the next WC meetup. I would have made it to the last one if I wasn’t in a mad dash preparing for my housewarming party on Saturday.

It took me a sec to figure out the social worker part too. I guess that would make a “Socketwenches” shirt totally appropriate for Soc! (It’s a Rat City Rollergirls team)

Speaking of shirts, I have GOT to have one of those “Living the Dream” ones. Do they sell them at the triangle?

Bayou- yes!!! The do sell them at the Triangle. My awesome cousins (who are also WSB forum posters, of course) got one for us last weekend. I would have worn it to the meet-up, but that’s kinda like wearing the t-shirt of the band you’re going to see… :)

    JT…I know I didn’t agree with that line…and no, it’s not OK with me. I don’t see exclusivity here…but, then, that’s just me…

Many people have said and I agree that anyone that wants to come to the meet up is welcome, gay, straight or otherwise. Why is the griping still going on though after is has been made clear you are welcome?

Zenguy, asking why you assume straight people are attacking the LGBT community, is not griping. You just made the comment yesterday. If that is a true feeling, the discussion is far from over. All along we have been trying to discuss concepts, double standards, and assumptions.

Please be a part of the solution and participate. Every time we make a little progress, there are attempts to shut it down or distract. I understand if there are those who don’t wish to talk, but it would be ok if you chose to just move on then.

    I don’t see any “griping”.

JT – I can see that no one is responding, which I think is a shame.

To see that opinions are still the same after all this time, proves that nothing was solved.

Sometimes, I think, people feel safer if they just continue with the same way of thinking and never look outside the box. It is very easy to make assumptions and keep them.

It’s much harder to open yourself up and let other ideas in.
