10:43 AM: We just stopped by to check on the progress at 11th SW and SW Cloverdale, where the Highland Park Elementary PTA and volunteers are repainting the school’s street mural. This is its third refresh, we’ve learned at the site, and they add new elements every time – salmon today! Still time to get here and help before noonish. More pics later!

1:03 PM: That’s the mural’s original artist, Marianne Maksirisombat, at the refresh event today. Our archives remind us that she had provided a photo we published in coverage of the original painting in 2018, and reminded us today that the mural was created with collaborators including the Duwamish Tribe and Children’s Hospital. Symbols in the mural include a Duwamish canoe:
