HalynParticipantAwesome. My neighbors have set up their band equipment and loudspeakers in their backyard and are serenading the neighborhood. Years ago, we asked these neighbors to please keep it down when they got out hand during a weeknight party, and were told “go f*ck yourselves” for our trouble, so we started just calling the cops anytime there was noise after 10 on a weeknight. We generally ignored weekend craziness, since our neighbor is young, and hey, it’s the weekend. After two or three calls, they stopped doing it. We had a couple of years of quiet, and now this. And honestly, if it wasn’t SO loud, I might just ignore it. But they’re not just playing instruments outside, they’re playing amplified instruments. It’s too loud to ignore.
I will never understand why people think it’s ok to impose your music, your noise, your smoke, your whatever on someone else. If I wanted to listen to a crappy live band tonight, I would have bought a ticket to a garage band concert at some Fremont dive. I shouldn’t have to have someone else’s music as the soundtrack to my evening. At 10:01, I’m calling the cops.

HalynParticipantFYI–I really am just ranting. I realize, it’s Saturday, there’s really nothing I can do. I just needed to vent and get it off my chest. It’s just so obnoxious to behave this way, and I really find it frustrating. I can hear it loud and clear from inside the house with windows shut. It’s my birthday today, and I was hoping to sit out on the patio since it’s so nice and enjoy a few drinks, but now? Now I’m gonna be stuck inside, where I can hopefully drown them out with the TV.

Talaki34ParticipantHappy Birthday!
If you haven’t started exercising your wrist yet and are willing to hold off, might I suggest taking a drive to one of the lesser known parks to relax? Like Jack Block Park, Jack Perry Memorial Park, Pelly Place Natural Area or even Fauntleroy? If you have friends close enough to walk to, but far enough from the noise, ask if you can use their yard.

angelescrestParticipantI have a quick escape idea. Completely sympathize.

HalynParticipanthahaha..unfortunately, my wrist is well and truly warmed up at this point! Thanks for the sympathy, folks…like I said, I just wanted to vent, and I realize this is just one of those times when one has to accept that other people will not always act as one wants them to.
It’s a lovely night for a yard party, though, isn’t it? I should think about crashing theirs…I have a bottle of tequila I can take as a hostess gift…

angelescrestParticipantWell, if you feel like pitching a tent on Vashon and waking to a swell view (and a bathroom!), lemme know and info will be sent!

anonymeParticipantHalyn, I totally sympathize. Tolerance is one thing, but having your own right to “peaceful enjoyment” literally blasted away is another. I thought there was an ordinance banning amplified music without a permit…could be wrong. But don’t feel guilty about calling police.
BTW, the party wasn’t in Arbor Heights east of 35th & 104th was it? I’m 3-5 blocks away and could hear drunken screaming and yelling last night from late afternoon onward. I was thinking how horrible it would be next door to that.

BonnieParticipantSo sorry. We have some neighbors who live behind us to the south (luckily not directly behind!) who are like that. The thing is these are adults and parents of teenagers and the adults are the ones causing problems! They are so bad that the neighbors to the north sold their house because they can’t stand living next to these people. I feel bad for the new owners. I don’t understand why people think it’s acceptable.
