SueParticipantMy guilty pleasures:
– sitting at work and reading Craigslist “Best of” topic, or their forum on “apartments wanted” and being amazed what people expect for $250 a month, or what they’ll reveal about their personal life on the internet;
– reading the message boards at survivorsucks.yuku.com for all the best in politically-incorrect TV (and other) commentary;
– embarrassingly bad reality TV that airs on VH1 (especially if it involves Flavor Flav or Danny Bonaduce or similar train-wrecks), although I watch my fair share of non-VH1 reality TV too;
– browsing in drugstores and office supply stores – my sister and I can spend 2 hours wandering the aisles of a drugstore;
– owning more tie-dye and patchouli-scented items than any human being should be allowed to own;
– that despite being raised on classic rock/alternative/punk, I find a certain comfort in John Denver, the Carpenters and ABBA.

swimcatMemberDairy Queen for icecream is my guilty pleasure. I’m not embarrassed about it, but I certainly feel guilty after enjoying every bite of my M&M Blizzard!

AnonymousInactiveMusic guilty pleasure… Fleetwood Mac, without a doubt!! My ALL time favorite band!! Although, I do prefer their stuff before the “Tusk” era. The older stuff. My dad dated Stevie Nicks in high school! Pretty cool!

jissyParticipantOh Sue — a gal after my own heart — I get SOOOO embarassed that I watch that VH1 reality stuff, but I can’t help it, it’s a train wreck every week and you can’t not watch! LOVE Bravo shows, too, P.R., Top Chef, Real Housewives (do people REALLY live like that????).
As for food, I’m in on the cheese gig, my family teases me unmercifully about it. And Peanut Butter Zig Zag soy ice cream (PCC), Tim’s Cascade potato chips, Red Aussie Licorice at Trader Joe’s, and a juicy Filet at JaK’S!!!! Or the spinach salad if I’m feeling like a good, healthy human that day.

beachdrivegirlParticipantAlthough I never thought I would admit it… my husband has me hooked on Phish and the Greatful Dead.. Before I met him I used to be more of an 80’s pop girl but I truely believe he opened up another great side of me…
March 20, 2008 at 4:04 am #619100
beachdrivegirlParticipantAnd Jissy. I used to love the Real Housewives of OC…havn’t got to NYC yet but love teh second season of Rock of Love 2…
March 20, 2008 at 6:05 am #619101
JeraldParticipantI like to watch Super Nanny and marvel at how horrible other people’s children can be.
Also a Lost fan, but starting to feel my brain is overloaded with people/details
.
Oh, and how about this — I actually purchased a DVD set of Here Come the Brides and watch 3 or 4 episodes at a time, preferably with a giant bowl of very buttery popcorn. (You had to grow up in Seattle to love that show, and Bobby Sherman!)
March 20, 2008 at 2:11 pm #619102
charlabobParticipantSue — THANK YOU! I put myself on the library list to get Lost. And we’ve finished watching my favorite b’day present this year — DVDs of the ONLY season of Freaks and Geeks, so this is just in time.
(It helps that most of my guilty pleasures last one season — two at most. Dexter is going on year three — we may be in trouble.) It’s not that we’re addicted to television — it’s just that I hardly ever sleep :-)

flowerpetalMemberInteresting what a nerve we’ve struck with this topic. I have a guiltier pleasure than cheese which is somewhat wholesome. My un-wholesome pleasure? Pork Rinds. Plain, spicy or salt and vinegar…I cannot just eat one. And even though I roll up the bag and put a rubber band around it before retiring it to the top of the fridge; I’m back to it the next day.
Its something you won’t find at PCC or Whole Foods… but it might be fun to go in and ask if they stock it!
March 20, 2008 at 3:57 pm #619104
kParticipanti have a mix on my ipod entitled “guilty pleasures”. most of it is 70’s soft rock tunes i used to hear on am radio back in the day. it’s a treat to listen to! takes me back.
March 20, 2008 at 8:19 pm #619105
WSMomParticipantOne more guilty pleasure…Disneyland without kids!!
March 20, 2008 at 8:56 pm #619106
swimcatMemberNewRes- I tried that chocolate covered strawberry waffle bowl at DQ last week. I rarely venture from the M&M Blizzard but gave that a try since I was craving strawberries and it was GOOD!
March 20, 2008 at 9:03 pm #619107
charlabobParticipantMy main GP right now: Reading this thread rather than jumping into the political fray. THANK YOU ALL (that’s actually why I started it — you haven’t let me down. :-)
So where’s the nearest Dairy Queen? They used to have the best trashy hot dogs short of the race track. So much for our planned dinner at Beato.
March 20, 2008 at 9:46 pm #619108
shihtzuParticipantI’ll confess. My guilty pleasure is listening to Dr. Laura on the radio.
March 20, 2008 at 11:28 pm #619109
JanSParticipantCharla…nearest DQ is in White Center…bigger one at 144th SW and SW Ambaum Way in Burien…I’d like a Peanut Buster Parfait, please
March 20, 2008 at 11:39 pm #619110
AnonymousInactiveCharla – The BEST hot dog I’ve EVER had is Costco! Without a doubt! And even though I buy the SAME brand hot dog and the SAME brand bun, it doesn’t taste like it does when they make it. Fabulous!
March 20, 2008 at 11:45 pm #619111
swimcatMemberYes, the nearest DQ is on 16th in White Center, not too far south of Roxbury. I used to drive over to the one at NE 8th and 405 in Bellevue though because they would flip your blizzard upside down before serving it to you. I also grew up going to that one and I’m still a bit sad it was torn down for a huge development. :(
March 20, 2008 at 11:46 pm #619112
JenVMemberDQ- when I was growing up on The Rock that was the only fast food we had. I think I was in HS before I ate that nonsense called McDonald’s. Many happy memories hanging out at the “Die Quick”…. my earliest treat memory was the butterscotch cone.
March 20, 2008 at 11:52 pm #619113
JanSParticipantNew Res…totally agree with you there…and , dang, the price is right :)
March 21, 2008 at 2:32 am #619114
charlabobParticipantG-d, I completely forgot the Costco hotdogs; I can see a wild weekend of sugar highs, hotdogs, new flat screen televisions, and Lost marathons. Thank you all! :-)
March 21, 2008 at 2:46 am #619115
barmargiaMemberMy friends and I have get togethers where we gorge ourselves on food and wine/champagne & watch stuff like top chef, project runway, etc.
March 22, 2008 at 4:54 am #619116
charlabobParticipantWell, you’ve corrupted me — thanks!
Got Season 2 of Lost for the weekend housecleaning/video orgy.
And (a forgotten guilty pleasure) we’re watching the ever so intellectual HBO series, “John Hancock” series while munching on Cheetos (the messy kind–none of that baked stuff for us.) And Diet Barq, but that must be healthy.
Hope you-all have guilt-free weekends full of guilty pleasures too :-)
