    JoB,

I’m not sure where you are getting your information. Precisely ZERO of the states allocated their delegates as “all or nothing” for the Democratic party. The Republicans… sure. But not the Democrats.

You can see the breakdown of delegates here if you are curious: Link

You may also note that Obama is leading the popular vote nationwide. Although it is very close.

My biggest fear is that the two democratic candidates continue to beat up on one another, wasting their warchests to get the nomination, and leave themselves underfunded and vulnerable.

I believe Clinton’s latest strategy of going negative (boy, she really learned something from campaigning against the Republicans, didn’t she?) only hurts the Democratic party as a whole.

JoB – I never thought you were being sarcastic. My post to JenV was in response to her saying that she felt like she was the only one who didn’t have a facebook. I don’t have one either and don’t know how to put my picture in the computer. I wanted her to know that there are other people out there that aren’t very computer literate. Sorry about the confusion!

Just a bit more… It’s interesting to see, despite what SNL might say, just how much they media has allowed her and her campaign to shape the context of the argument. The story the entire time he was winning 11 states in a row, was that she had such a huge lead in Texas and Ohio that she would be able to even out any potential gains from the primaries leading up to it. Well, he won 11 states in a row and the closest margin of the 11 was 58-42, and he netted over 130 pledged delagates in doing that, and took a decent sized lead. Her “firewall” as her campaign called it was last night, and as her campaign was quoted saying in Febraury- they expected to be even in pledge delegates after Texas and Ohio. Well, last night was her big “triumph” and she netted 4 delegates, and still trails by over 130 pledged delegates. To make that up, she had have to do what she did last night 33 more times, just to tie. That was 4 states- there are only 12 left, to win in pledged delegates she would have to win 70-30 in all 12 remaining states. That’s how big his lead is. She clearly failed miserably at her campaigns own stated objectives, and is now hopelessly behind in pledged delegates without enough states to make it up. But her “moral” victory last night is the only story covered and I heard a number of “experts” say the race is “essentially tied” now! The media has it out for Clinton? Not sure I buy it…

Jan, I don’t think I’m going to go to Rick’s memorial, though I did think about it. His nephew just recently got married to one of my oldest friends, so I know they will be there, but I feel its not my place to mourn him becasue I didn’t know him as they did. I don’t know. Death at any age is horrible, but its very sad in this case as it was so sudden. He was such a gifted musician. LeRoy Bell is one of my favorite bands, and it was a pleasure to hear him play with them.

Is there anybody in this group who likes to plan and organize things? Maybe that person could take charge and just tell us all when to show up. Unfortunately, I’m not one of those people.

charlabob – I just watched that film the other night. While it wasn’t my favorite film, I thought it was interesting. It was an interesting topic to do a film about. And very fitting that you would mention that particular film in light of recent events on this forum! Lol!

I am very excited for the movie, “Into The Wild” to come out on video. I did not see it in the theater, but I read the book and it was a great book.

JenV – Don’t feel like you’re the only one! I, too, have nothing to share that would reveal who I am. We should all try and make it to the next get-together!

Aim – this kinda goes along with the skin care and all that and I’m wondering what your thoughts were on it. I recently met a “raw foodist”. She had been doing it for a year and she too had great skin. It was interesting talking with her. Have you ever experimented?

Andrea – thanks! We’re shooting for summer. Offbeat Bride Blog has saved me from stress. I am determined to have it be fun and not so stressful. Avoiding the giant traditional wedding will help I think. (Not that there is anything wrong with one – they can be gorgeous – but I want it to be a whole lot of fun and very little stress)

Jo – you’re totally right. I need to remember to mention it to my doctor and get a standby prescription. I forget whenever I see her, and then when I have them I always seem to be too late to actually do much about them. I’ll get it together one of these days! They’re no fun at all. I get them about twice a year now. Used to be once every 2 months or so. And thanks! My very conservative family will be shocked by my dress. But they’ll get over it. They’ve gotten over everything else… ;-)

JT, I’m not at all dismissing the cruelty and the validity of the outrage.

I’m only comparing it with events in Iraq because, for example I didn’t hear the same level of outrage when several marines were charged with raping and killing an Iraqi child (14) and killing her family and trying to burn the bodies. There was outrage, but there was also defensiveness.

I specifically said I was talking about people in general and not the people of this blog community because the event in Iraq happened before this blog existed and I firmly believe there would have been an enormous and universal reaction of outrage about it here.

It’s always amazing to me what people think they can do to animals. Sadly, they often get away with it — this event became news because someone made a quick movie, with sound, and because the puppy was so damned cute.

Donate to a group that does animal rescue — or the feral cat rescue folks with spay and neuter clinics — foster and socializae puppies who might otherwise be killed. Make sure your neighbor with the pit bull has the money to have him/her neutered. This is a tough time for “pets”…economic downturns hit them first.

Do it in the name of Puppy X.

This might seem strange, but I really miss seeing the cat graffiti on Admiral each day. I seem to recall someone mentioning here that they knew who the artist was.

If you do know the artist, could you reply so I can send you my contact info? I’d really love to see if I could get the artist to do a cat for me (for pay of course!).

    Thanks in advance,

    Emily

I feel sometimes like I am the only person without a myspace/facebook page. I also don’t tend to keep photos around of myself. but since we’re outing: WS resident full time since ’96, 34, no dogs/kids/republican stickers on my car, 1 cat, 1 BF, totally West Seattle-centric. :)

    cheers!

charlabob – I don’t think it’s a fair comparison to bring up IRAQ. Apples and oranges so to speak. Of course everyone is bothered about the innocent lives lost there. And most I know discuss it on a regular basis. The puppy story is a current event that tugs at our heartstrings because of the complete vulnerability. Couldn’t run, hide, or fight back in any way. Just a baby. And the cruelty is so intentional it’s hard to fathom. Reacting to this story doesn’t negate or diminish our feelings toward war. What would it say about we as a people if this didn’t bother us as well.

Yup, this actually works. I found Skylark from the discussion of John the waiter. And the flood of useful information (and fascinating discussion) just never stops. Thank you WSB! There’s a book in here somewhere.

I haven’t seen an announcement of how to nominate someone or what the schedule is. I did see something about when the next event would be (and can’t find it again).

    Anybody ???

Aim.. you do have amazing skin… and a great expression too… cute!

i caught the part of your blog about shingles and nerve pain.

i find valcyclovir on the day the tingling hits.. the irritating itch.. stops it in it’s tracks…

i have valtrex now and it doesn’t work as well for me.. but we are all different.

if i let it go even one day it will be month before i am done.

and strangely, lidocaine patches if you can tolerate them really do seem to slow down the nerve pain… again.. if i catch them it on the first day.

and i am looking now to see if your doc takes my insurance…

    great meeting you…

and congratulations! you will look super in a red dress.

Aim, I skimmed your blog, and yes, your skin is radiant! Congrats on getting engaged too! I’m getting hitched myself in May, and its a lot of work, but a lot of fun too. And I’m sorry about the shingles. I haven’t had them, but my sister and grandmother do, and I know how horrible it is.

I’ve hoped for a long time to see discussions of movies and books and television in these forums, even though they aren’t specific to West Seattle — hey, they’re things people in West Seattle are doing, right? The folks here are so interesting and involved and the discussions would just be fun.

But since many forums have been talking recently about gratuitous violence and trolls with mental issues, I have to recommend a film that everyone should see — available on netflix and elsewhere.

It’s called: He Was a Quiet Man, stars Christian Slater as a nobody who becomes somebody in a horrible way. It’s a low budget somewhat arty little piece — that explains without excusing how some among us get to a place of no return.

And how can you resist a movie with talking fish to expedite the plot? Even my cats watched.

It appears that the Marine is from Snohomish and his family has been getting death threats. They’ve taken down all of their web pages and disconnected their phones.

I must say, the puppy is cute — the Marine, ‘eh, not my type. I’m afraid the stress of battle won’t work, since he’s stationed in Hawaii and that’s where the horror happened.

But I am sad that we (the people, not the people of this blog) aren’t as concerned about the innocent Iraquis who are tortured and killed in horrible ways in our names.

Not sure what the rate is or how often you would need a babysitter; but i love kids! And my niece and nephew are to far away so I would be happy to be an occasional babysitter for you at little or no charge!
