    The STOP N’ SHOP, is lucky to be the recipient of many wonderful donations from the community, ranging from furniture, clothing, and home décor. The proceeds provide financial support that keep the many wonderful programs running at the Senior Center of West Seattle.
    We are looking for a cashier on Tuesdays from 1-4pm. If you are friendly, helpful, and enjoy working with the community, this could be a fun role for you.

    I met the owners and they seemed very nice. My brother complained that the shower head was a little low for him, but he’s a complainer. :) The place has one bed and is good for 2 people. Entrance is in the back of the home off the alley, as well as a parking spot back there. Note that the parking is at a fairly steep angle, and an incline to get to the entrance, in case that’s an issue.

    Leads ongoing YMCA Total Health classes or programs in a specialized area.
    Qualifications
    Two or more years experience teaching or practicing in specialized area.
    Ability to lead a class or provide individual service.
    Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
    Ability to motivate and educate members.
    Ability to set up, move and store equipment.
    Personal Trainer certification: Nationally recognized certification such as YMCA Fitness Specialist Trainer, YMCA Fitness Testing and Assessment Specialist Trainer, ACSM, ACE, NSCA.
    Preferred Qualifications:

    Current state approved first aid certification.*
    Current state approved CPR certification.*
    High school education or equivalent.

    Agency Overview:
    The West Seattle Food Bank (WSFB) is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen the community through the power of neighbors helping neighbors, working to ensure all in our community have access to the essential necessities of living. The agency was established in 1983 and in March of 2020 merged with the West Seattle Helpline (WSH) to expand services. Primary services include distribution of food, financial assistance, clothes, and referrals for additional services and resources. The agency serves 1,000 – 2,000 households every week. Service area is primarily in the southwest portion of Seattle (West Seattle). In addition to the above services the agency also assists with supplies for infants and children and offers free pet food.

    Position Overview and Job Description:
    Transportation Coordinator will be responsible for driving agency vehicles to pick up food from local retailers and other donors and overseeing mobile food distributions. This will include maintaining a schedule of other van drivers, overseeing maintenance of agency vehicles, ensuring proper handling of food items and participating in other tasks related to food bank operations. The Transportation Coordinator is required to develop a thorough working knowledge and understanding of all aspects associated with food bank operations, must be a team player with demonstrated ability to direct activities in a very busy environment, and comfortable working with individuals from very diverse backgrounds. Use of personal vehicle may be required at times for smaller pickups or for home deliveries. This position will report to the WSFB Program Manager for Food Bank Services.

    Transportation Coordinator responsibilities will include action or oversight in the following areas:
    Maintaining schedule of donation pickups and special pickups assuring proper documentation and receipts of donations.
    Safely securing, storing, and distributing food and other items.
    Providing adequate training and supervision of volunteers involved in food rescue and mobile food bank operations.
    Ensuring services are provided in a confidential, culturally competent, and respectful manner and handling volunteer and shopper comments and complaints regarding operations.
    Accurate documentation and data management for food pick-ups and mobile food bank sites.
    Ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of the van, facility, and surrounding grounds.
    Other duties as required.

    Qualifications:
    A Bachelor’s degree or direct experience working with low-income individuals in a social service, employment, or educational setting.
    Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of local ethnic communities and low-income populations.
    Excellent time management skills and the ability to work with limited supervision and considerable self-direction.
    Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with co-workers, volunteers, and service recipients.
    The ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
    Bilingual in English and Spanish or Vietnamese or Somali strongly preferred.
    Possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, a working automobile available to use for food bank business, show proof of automobile liability insurance, and have a good driving record.
    Be proficient with Microsoft Office software.
    Possess a Washington State Food Worker Card or obtain one within one week of date of hire.
    Must pass a criminal background check through the State Patrol.
    The successful candidate will need to provide evidence of full vaccination for COVID-19 and maintain full vaccination status.

    Salary and Benefits:
    Wages and Hours: $20-25/hour DOE, 25- 35 hours per week, non-exempt. Some weekends and evenings may be required.

    Nooooooooo! I’m a catsitter that lives and works a TON in WS. I feel awful this has happened to you – if you started off with them on rover there’s a chance they *might* get removed, but they’re not the most reliable platform when it comes to accountability.

    I won’t tell you to file a police report or what they did is illegal – you know all that and I hate when commenters offer up the obvious bloat. But, do post details if you’re sure they’re the culprit. As a catsitter who is entrusted with their homes and privacy and families it hurts and angers me to hear this happened to you.

    As Warf Security, your primary responsibility will be to monitor access to the East Wharf. Security will be required to prevent unauthorized persons from entering or leaving the Wharf. Roving security duty will also be required. This involves monitoring activities along the wharf’s fence line and reporting anything unusual. Any suspicious activity is to be reported to your supervisor or call an emergency number if necessary. You will report to the Waterfront Crane Supervisor.

    We are looking for people that:
    – Have previous security experience, preferred.
    – Have earned a High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Description
    •LafargeHolcim’s Seattle plant is in need of Production/Shipping operators to run its grinding and shipping operations on the Duwamish River in West Seattle.
    • The 24/7 operation brings raw materials in on ocean going vessels, drys, and grinds the material in 2,500 hp ball mills.
    • The facility markets & sells 7 different cementitious products and ships finished products in bulk bags, truck, rail and barge.
    • Over a period of time, the position can offer opportunities to learn about, and work with, all activities at the facility, which include marine operations, heavy equipment such as a forklifts/skidsteers/loaders/excavators, industrial manufacturing equipment & automation, business computer systems, customer facing activity, railroad operations, water management systems, and environmental stewardship systems.
    • Operating motorized equipment including power tools, grinders, saws, and hammers and performing general construction labor to include jobsite clean-up and moving of materials by hand.
    • Ensure the safety of company personnel, the community, and the environment

    Qualifications
    • High school Diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check
    • Ability to acquire a Transportation Workers Identification Credential
    • Have a solid work ethic, commitment to safety, and dependable
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete task with minimal direction
    • Ability to work alone or in a group setting, complete tasks, and follow instructions
