Does everyone see “comment waiting approval” when they make a comment on a story on the main page? My comments always say this even though I don’t type anything that may get flagged like swear words, name calling, etc.

I could have written the exact same post as Franci, verbatim. Love our Rinnai, 9-years-strong and going great. Installed on the exterior of our house. We’ve grown used to the slight delay for hot water — it’s SO worth it for the endless supply once it gets going! Also, re-circulating pumps add cost in terms of increased energy.

@ Franci – would having it electric defeat any cost savings and benefits to going tankless?

I caught my finger in the door of my car down on Alki. Fabienne helped me get the blood under control and Cactus employees brought ice, water, etc. Fabienne drove me to Urgent care where I received 5 stitches and cauterization on my finger bed. It reminds me that there are so many good people in our world. :-) I sent her a text but it bounced; assuming no texting on her temp phone. Anyone who knows her, tell her she is a great person and Karma and all will be with her!!! 😇 Same for Cactus employees. 😀

    Tomorrow is the BIG day!!
On May 3 you can give BIG (or little)—everything counts! Support your favorite non-profit(s)!
Donations will be stretched thanks to funds from Seattle Foundation and corporate sponsors. Spread the word!

A few of my West Seattle favorites (cat related) are:

FAF (Friends of the Animals Foundation)
West Seattle based FAF has been providing TNR, rescue, care, rehoming, and adoption of stray and unwanted cats and kittens for almost 19years!! Now located in the West Seattle Petco (since August 2015), they also assist with pet food, spay/neuter, and vet care for pets of people on fixed incomes.
    https://givebig.seattlefoundation.org/npo/friends-of-the-animals-foundation

    Furry Faces Foundation
Just celebrated 10 years of Keeping People & Pets Together!! F3 provides support for people who are financially restricted and may need assistance to care for their companion animals—food, vet care, a connection to available resources—and is well know for their fun(d)-raising events: Catsino, Dog Days of August Beerfest, Annual Plant sale, and Wrap It Up
    https://givebig.seattlefoundation.org/npo/furry-faces-foundation-1

Not West Seattle, but crucial to the cat rescue community is Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project who provides low/no cost spay/neuter.

I’m sure we all have our favorites, so plea e USE THE COMMENTS TO SHARE YOUR LOCAL FAVORITES so we can all have opportunity to help our WS community! Then be sure to #GiveBIG and encourage your friends to do the same.

    Thanks!!

I have read (several times over actually), Simplify Your Life by Elaine St. James. It has 200+ ideas that she discusses over 1-3 pages each. I’m sure you could find it at the Library. I also have her books, Simplify your Worklife and Simplify Christmas. Always a struggle (for me at least) to pare down, I fall into that, “I’m sure I’ll need this again, someday!” And someday just clutters my garage!!!

I highly recommend Teresa Spraggins of Spraggins Fitness. My spouse and I have been working with her for more than two years. She’s worked with us through some injuries and toward various goals. She has a studio on California around Hinds (near PCC).

EDCA did my roof last summer and I couldn’t be more happy. Larry Haight would have been my 2nd choice, my neighbor used him to redo a failure of another company that is out of business now.

I second contacting Lein, or looking for “kennel kid” type positions at local clinics. When I was 17 I did exactly that, and let the clinic know I was especially interested because I wanted to be a vet. Turned out that based on that experience I learned that wasn’t the right career path for me, but it was really valuable experience and Lein (where I worked) did a great job of making what might have just been a messy job cleaning cages into a really awesome learning opportunity.

I have two pine trees that are growing right in the middle of my large planter in my sunny area and I don’t want shade there. If you want to come and dig then you can have these trees for free.
I also have a different type of pine tree available too.
I have pictures that I can email anyone interested.
    Just let me know,
    Rose

I won’t rehash my CL nightmare which I thought had been resolved 6 months ago with my cancellation and confirmation that my account balance was zero.
Not so fast, they decided I still owed them, although they never sent me another bill. Instead they sent my account to collections. This showed up on my credit report. Instead of calling CL, I shamed them on their Facebook page which they responded to immediately. The account has allegedly been corrected. We shall see.
When dealing with them, go straight to social media. Best way to get a response.

It’s a great weekend to work in your garden! If you have any plants that need to be divided, please think about donating them to Furry Faces Foundation for our annual plant sale! Plants can be dropped off in the driveway of 3809 46th Ave SW, or at Hotwire Online Coffeehouse, our North headquarters, located at 4410 California Ave. Thanks for thinking of us!

If you want to know about us, go to our FB https://www.facebook.com/furryfacesfoundation/ or website: furryfacesfoundation.org

Hi! I worked as a vet tech for several years and do know it can be difficult to get information as clinics are very busy.
It is true that finding experience when you are under 18 can be difficult. I would draft out a letter and say exactly what you posted here, you are in the running-start program and are interested in anything they can help you with, job shadowing, interviews, and kennel cleaning (I know the clinic I worked at, we had a volunteer kennel cleaner that was in high school). Are you interested in exotics, emergency or large animal (horses and farm) medicine? Mention this! If there is a particular field you are interested in, find out which clinics in the area specialize in that area, it’s okay if you don’t know yet, ask for the experience anyway.
Call the various vet clinics in the area and find out who their head or lead veterinarian is, and write the letter to them.
As angelscrest suggested, call a few of the rescue groups and ask about volunteer positions. I currently volunteer for one and it fills my need for helping animals as I am not currently working at a clinic.
Congratulations on your chosen career path, and I wish you the best of luck, it is very rewarding.

WOW. The more I look online, the more reports I see of the VP of this club’s rudeness and poor customer service. I’ve definitely got my own story to add. Details to follow. Because I’m “man enough” to be honest (very female biologically).

I was lucky to be renting a home that had the tankless water heater system, and it’s honestly the best thing in the world. Never experienced any delay getting hot water, and with three adults all showering in the morning never ran out of hot water. If you have the funds, I’d say don’t think twice and do it!
