Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 6 pm via ZoomThe US National Register of Historic Places helps everyday people document and celebrate their place-based histories and stories. In this presentation, we’ll explore what the National Register is, how to get listed, and what kinds of spaces make the list.
Michael Houser is State Architectural Historian at the WA Dept. of Archaeology & Historic Preservation (DAHP). His work engages with the National Register of Historic Places, the Washington Heritage Register, and the Heritage Barn Register. Houser is also staff to the Washington State Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. In his free time, he enjoys creating the annual homemade Houser Family Christmas Card. Past designs include a playbill, an Oly-Girls Catalog, and scratch-off lottery style tickets. He also enjoys researching architects and writing biographies — his favorite architect is Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, otherwise known as Le Corbusier.
