Single parent household seeking energetic and caring home caregiver to assist 20-year-old woman who has cerebral palsy with getting ready for school in the mornings. Sense of humor and positive attitude required. Duties include assisting with ADLs, administering formula and medications through a G-tube, transfer from bed to wheelchair, and waiting with her until she is safely on the school bus. You may occasionally have to drive her to school in our wheelchair accessible van if the bus does not show, but it’s a 5-7 minute drive away. Hoyer lift available to assist with transfers in bedroom. Hours are Monday to Friday, from 7 to 8 a.m. +/- (we are still waiting for our bus assignment). Due to the short nature of the shift, you will be paid for two hours minimum regardless of how long it takes to get her on the bus – you can work five hours, but get paid for ten!

We are in the Delridge neighborhood. Occasional opportunities to fill in for other shifts, i.e. after school and weekends. CNA or NAC license a major plus. You must be strong enough to transfer an 85 pound person safely. You must also be authorized to work in the United States, have driver’s license, good driving record, and feel comfortable driving a wheelchair accessible van (albeit rarely). Spanish bilingual a plus (we are a bilingual family)! We are willing to train on the job, so if you don’t have experience but you’re willing to learn, this is a wonderful opportunity! Interested in learning more? Please ask!

Contact Brian with any inquiries at btang2@hotmail.com.

    Compensation: 20-25$/hr DOE.

    Totally valid flag, PatWS!

Because this study is focused on technology & home security, the question around whether or not your home currently has a security system is meant to gauge your familiarity with in-market security products. We will not be collecting any personal home information, and the study will take place at a third-party residence.

Folks, please note that completing this form gives whoever is running this project your name, your email, and whether your home has a security system. With this information, it would be easy for someone to find out exactly where you live and the fact that your home is unsecured. Please take that into account when sharing your information with an unknown party.

We are looking for someone that can help us with some data entry work during our busiest months of September and October. As the data entry work diminishes, there may also be additional work in software testing. You would need to come in for the first few hours for training, but after that much of the work could be done from home. Due to the nature of the work, it would be ideal if you could work for smaller blocks of time more frequently, rather than larger blocks of time less frequently. For example, it would be better if you could work an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon or evening each day, rather than for ten hours only once a week. The work schedule does not need to be fixed.

Due to data privacy agreements, we will need to perform a background check.

Pay is $20/hour. If you are interested, email david@xtramath.org, put “job” in the subject line, include a short paragraph about yourself, and tell me about your time availability.

Thank you everyone for the good suggestions and good memories. I forgot about Ephesus, but always have a good time there. And I love the food at Raccolto, but it’s too noisy. This is what happened: I was buying a gift for this occasion at Click and walked by Haymaker. I decided on a whim that this was the place. And wow. It was perfect. Delicious food, superb service. It was a little different than the usual. Pretty full, but not noisy and I got a last minute Sunday night reservation. They encourage you to share plates, so you can taste this and that. Again, the food was delicious. I’m not a cocktail drinker, but I guess they do that well. Wine selections were limited, but excellent and different. All in all, five stars for a celebratory night out. If you want more details on the meal, ask and I will write more. Let me say, I didn’t leave stuffed, I left very, very satisfied.

    Good morning!
I am responding to your job listing in the West Seattle blog. I am an older female in excellent health, and with personable interaction skills. A few years ago, I owned a residential cleaning service with satisfied customers and word of mouth advertising. In my previous work history, I have been in different types of work that needed good customer service and follow through via phones and one on one. Recently, I took care of a venue house on Beacon Hill that needed a reliable cleaner and stocker for the next group coming. I always stayed in good communication with those who were responsible for the maintainance and repairs or if something was amiss with the property.
Currently, I have a rather open schedule and looking to fill with it with a reliable work. I am very dependable, responsible, honest, and have (as stated) good social skills. I live in the West Seattle Junction and can easily be at the house when needed or to fill in if someone is on vacation. I have currebt references for the caregiving work I am doing for a friend’s mother as well.
I look forward to meeting with you in the near future to discuss how I can help fulfill on your current needs. Thank you for your time and consideration.
    Sincerely,
    Flo Boynton

    Hey friends,

I don’t post very often because generally I don’t have anything new to add to the conversation. In this current climate I’ve been tuning out a great deal because, mainly because I’m a Black American. That statement is where people usually listening/reading as if I’m whining, “ungrateful”, or un-American (which, unless you’ve been shot at for this country, will really piss me off!).

The reason I mention being a Black American is because regardless of the outcome of the 2020 election, the day to day reality of being part of the country’s “Brown-skinned” population will not change. It didn’t change under Clinton nor Obama and they were color blind leaders. Now if you’re thinking that things HAVE indeed gotten better for us Brown people the first thing you should do is look in the mirror because you’re probably not one yourself. Secondly ask yourself if thinking everything is better for us while ignoring all data that contradicts this belief, is that helping the marginalized or the oppressors? I look at it probably like you look at climate change… “how can all of these intelligent people just ignore the numbers and just blindly believe something that is not true? (Climate change is a myth or Brown people in America are not second-class-citizens) I am continually dumbfounded by this phenomena.

I personally believe that it’s going to take a White male to bring health back to the country. By health I mean restore the promise of America, a country based on principals, not on money. Yeah, I catch flack for that belief, especially from my Black AND female friends. Well I heard this professor explain what I had been struggling to put into words and I wanted to share it with everyone I could.

If you want to know the tip of the iceberg that is what it’s like being a Brown person in America, check this out. Two very smart people trying to cut through the hype. I’m not going to apologize if my thoughts and opinions upset anyone, but I do want you to know I mean no disrespect. It’s just my reality and has been for 54 years.

I’m looking for a part-time barista for a few shifts at my busy drive-through espresso stand at the Port of Seattle. This is for afternoons, 12p-5p 3-4 days/week as well as the occasional request for a fill-in shift. We need someone with a flexible schedule… this is a great job for a student.

We have a small team of long-term employees. We work like a family and are not looking for someone who is just looking for a temporary job. We are ready to hire and begin training as soon as we find the right fit!

    Requirements for this job:

    High School Diploma or GED
At least 18 years of age
Prior coffee experience (drive-through or café)
Must be punctual and have reliable transportation
    Open availability, including occasional weekends!
Be able to be on your feet for long shifts, and ability to lift up to 25lbs
Friendly smile, sense of humor, love for meeting new people and making conversation, and a passion for coffee! We make every cup with love and value our customers. Baristas at Portside make GREAT tips.

If this position is what you’re looking for, send your resume to Portsidecoffeeco@gmail.com. Please include a small paragraph about why you’re interested in this position and what your availability is like.

    Thank you!

I’m looking for a current/former parent (local, ideally) to be at my house on Monday afternoons during the school year, for 3 hours, and perhaps 10-15 hours during school breaks (there are 15 weeks of school break in school year). Basic childcare, ideally some homework help, may need you to pick up my 11yo from school, get dinner started, friendly warm that’s respectful and trustworthy.
Ideally, we’ll find someone who’s retired and looking for some fun kid time on the side or a mother with a wee-one (who can come along and be dotted on by my kids).
We have 3 kids, age 6-11. Background check and references would be required. We have a nice dog in our house too.
    Would need to start mid/late-September.
