I think you still have my email (?), so please don’t hesitate to let me know what I can do. I will email you my phone number too.
June 2, 2008 at 12:15 am #625700JanSParticipantNR…I’m surprised I haven’t run into you there. My bldg. is the one with the really bad landscaping, only one with a flat roof – lol, mid-block.
nice that you’re taking the summer off…it’ll be fun for you and the offspring :) Thanks for the offer…I’ll hold you to that, although I’m actually getting around fairly well, and it’s only been 2 1/2 weeks since the surgery. Minor complications…but having friends helps :)
Banana splits from Baskin and Robbins? lol….

AnonymousInactiveI posted this before, but no one responded.
Did anyone read the interview of Nader in the WSJ? It was an interesting viewpoint on Obama (from a huge liberal)!
Wanted to see all your liberal thoughts on it. Is it too much to ask that you actually read something in the WSJ?

JanSParticipantjiggers, you’re supposed to rant or rave about SOMETHING, not just go off on people who disagree with you :) I’m sure you understand that, being the smart guy you are :)

TheHouseMemberIs a hamburger considered vegan if I eat it with lettuce and tomato?
June 1, 2008 at 11:27 pm #625926TheHouseMemberLet me simplify:
Liberal – government should take care of me and the rest of the world. They are also people with IQs below 55 and tend to drool on themselves at the sight of a tax increase, minority running for office and cheese fries.
Conservative – I am responsible for myself and other people are responsible for themselves. They are also people with IQs above 55 and tend to drool on themselves at the site of Bibles, men from Texas and Speed Racer.
Independents – people that just want to enjoy life and don’t give a rats *ss about arguing.
I must also clarify for the libs, this is a joke.

JiggersMemberJan…I’m being nice right now, you don’t even want to get into a shouting match with me. I don’t need to make my points by using foul language, name calling, being boisturous, rude etc… I always have an opinion about something whether you think I’m right or not. This is the rant and rave section isn’t it? The kitchen’s about to become hot.
June 1, 2008 at 10:46 pm #625943In reply to: Rant-Democrats aren’t Democratic
EstopherMemberI don’t know what your expectations are for the Democratic Party, but it sure isn’t their fault that Puerto Rico can’t vote. The fact that Democrats allow Puerto Ricans to help in the nomination process is a plus.
People seem to think that selecting a nominee is somehow ‘voting.’ It isn’t. Political Parties are allowed to select their nominee however they want. The fact that Democrats and Republicans provide some semblance of a democratic system for selecting a nominee is completely by choice. There is no requirement that a party have a single vote, debate, or discussion.
For instance the Green Party that just handed us Ralph Nader and now Cynthia McKinney, and the Libertarians just selected (by committee) Bob Barr. If you were involved in the party, you might have had some say in those selections. Or maybe not.
Part of the problem is it is impossible to know who is actually in your party or not. So I can see why the Greens for instance wouldn’t want an open primary. They need to make sure all the people selecting the nominee are actually Greens. Same goes for all parties. Super Delegates are there to insure that the party selects the nominee. Not simply whoever, whomever votes for.
When people don’t like it, they are certainly allowed to start their own parties (a la Ross Perot) and select who ever they want to be President by what ever means they see fit.
Democrats allow individual states to select the manner in which their delegates are selected. If you have a question as to why a particular state does or does not report vote totals or does or does not have a caucus, you should ask party officials in that State.
Heck, if you don’t like the way the Dems do it here, you could even get involved and tell them what you think.

bunnypugMemberNot an all vegan restaurant by a long shot; but ate at Blackbird Bistro last night and noticed they had 3 entrees that could be prepared vegan. Also they feature a vegan dessert. They *do* have a local and organic focus and are just plain yummy. My favorite veggie/vegan restaurant in Seattle is Cafe Flora but they are in Madison Park.
June 1, 2008 at 10:10 pm #618747In reply to: McCain ?????
TrickParticipantNewResident, I understand your view.
McCain has alot of history, some good, some bad.
What I do see is his shift more to the right.
Why? Because his campaign was bankrupt until he started to include these lobbyists (alot from the Bush camp) that raised $70 million for his campaign. You think they give that away without some strings attached?
Obama has surpassed all records on individual donations and doesn’t accept PAC or lobbyist money.
Can McCain claim-the-same?
*I think I just found a new slogan*
June 1, 2008 at 10:04 pm #625925TrickParticipantJenV….that was impressive!!!
Funny, I consider myself liberal:
Rarely go to starbucks (independant is my choice)
Hate my cell phone
My Beach cruiser has had a flat for 3 yrs
Never liked vegatables (cooked anyways)
Jim McDermott? I don’t always agree, but like alot.
Vote yes on everything? Hmm… vague……nope.
LTGB? I accept all people and judge them individually.
Drive a SUV (paid for)
I’ve protested a few times. Backed up traffic? probably, but so do the Mariners.
Your point is??

AnonymousInactiveThe list is just too long to re-write :) Someone else did it for me though. Not an ethanol fan myself, the first one on the list, but I liked this one:
-Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 to provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in America relative to those outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military.

AnonymousInactiveOk. So “a few” accomplishments on his website to compare to McCain’s accomplishments? Interesting.
The qualities you have listed for Obama are almost similar with the qualities in McCain:
smart, optimistic, and a natural leader.
The only one we couldn’t use would be vibrant, however, it can be replaced with experienced wisdom.
June 1, 2008 at 9:50 pm #618744In reply to: McCain ?????
TrickParticipantHe does have a few accomplishments on his website.
I find praises on both sides of the aisle that he’s managed his campaign incredibly well and smart.
He’s young and not tainted yet by the baggage and questionable history the other candidates have. We’ll see at the voting booth if americans will choose his path of leadership over the same path we’re on now.
I think that’s why so many find him refreshing and polarizing.
It’s easy to know that he’s green on the political scene and ask about his long list of accomplishments, but the point being is that he’s vibrant, smart, optimistic and has a knack for being a natural leader. He doesn’t talk the DC game and scares the ba-jesus out of the PAC’s and lobbyists.
He’s got some of the smartest political savvy politicians out there supporting him. They all can’t be wrong.

DOES Obama have a record of ANY accomplishments?
I thought for sure I would find that list here.
