First let me say that I’m sorry for what happened to your dog. That away to have to watch and the pain and suffering that you must both be feeling is terrible.

Here’s the hard part: that your dog was off leash really makes it your fault though the Akita breaking free of its leash may be the only mitigation you could expect.

You pull some very nasty rhetorical tricks in your post. You point out the history and roots of the breed and that while your dog has never been in a dog fight you imply that this one surely has. The fact it that your dog certainly approached another leashed dog. Your dog probably ran at it as dogs are wont to do. This would elicit a defensive response.

I have my own biases. I own two pit bulls. They are big chickens despite their reputation. While the breed is responsible for the most maulings in the last 20 years that isn’t indicative of the majority of the members of the breeds that make up the collection of dogs considered pit bulls. In fact, Labs are the most frequent biters.

Breeds cannot be outright banned in WA. Municipality’s must provide a route around said restrictions that is reasonable for individual dogs. It’s possible that this dog would’ve been able to do so if another dog hadn’t run at it.

I’m sure my post will be unpopular since I’m not displaying any hand wringing or howling for blood, as is popular these days. Feel free to pile on.

    Hello,

I am trying to locate t the owner of a Black head Akita Dog that lives close to the end of 47th Ave SW. His dog seriously injured my dog as he was walking past my house on 47th Ave SW on September 4, 2021.

His dog is a 100lb black headed Akita. His dog picked up my 18 pound 11 year old dog by the throat and was wildly jerking him up and down trying to break his neck. The Akita dog was bred for dog fighting in the 1600’s and to protect royalty in Japan and hunt wild boar and bear. They are one of the dog breeds that are considered dangerous enough to possibly ban in the Seattle City Limits. My dog has never been in a dog fight in his life. I have never seen a dog go for the juggler like that. This was partially my fault, as my dog was on a leash and it slipped out of my hand. So when he got near – the Akita attacked. It was so violent he ripped his collar off of his body. The owner was trying to control his dog but couldn’t and once the dog clamped down he wouldn’t release my dog. It was extremely scary.

After, the owner apologized and said he would follow up. He hasn’t and I was so concerned about my dogs welfare I did not get his contact info. I immediately took my dog to the vet and he underwent surgery and had hundreds of stitches. The vet bills totalled $1500 dollars.

The owner of the dog offered to assist with payment of the vet bill then said he would look to see if insurance would cover the cost and said he would get back to me but never did.

If anyone knows whom the dogs owner is, I would appreciate his contact info.

I do not wish to have the dog put down. I do want to know the dog’s history. i would like to know if he has injured another dog or person.I think it’s imperative that he is muzzled. I would warn people to be cautious near this dog.

My name is Claire and my contact is 206-683-9114. Please call or text me.

This is a great opinion piece I agree with 110%! We need an end in sight to putting the burden on our poor kids, especially with vaccine approval imminent for 5-11 year olds.

Also, it’s ok to unmask your kids (and yourself!) outside! My heart drops every time I’m walking in Lincoln Park and see the poor kids running in this beautiful fall fresh air masked up, or masked at the playgrounds around all their masked parents. Study after study shows there is no need to mask outdoors – virus transmission outside is highly unlikely. And in the event COVID transmission happens, it’s not deadly or very dangerous to kids. If you see me, I’m that mom unmasked in the fresh air with her unmasked kids breathing it in letting their beautiful smiles show. Join us, it feels great! Let’s start speaking up about putting an end to the mask mandate in schools as our vaccine rate continues to climb!

Let’s start a band in West Seattle. I’m tired of driving over to the mainland to jam. I play guitar (decently) and sing (well enough). I believe in the power of Love, and Rock and Roll. NOT a cover band. Maybe one cover every 20 songs or so. I’ve got a bunch of originals and would be thrilled to collaborate on even newer ones. I’m 40 years old. I like to dress up and get freaky. Hit me up. Peace.

Friends! To meet extraordinary demand at Rebellyous Foods, we are looking for great, mission-dedicated people to come help out on a short-term basis. The world is truly ready to replace chicken on a large scale, and we are heeding the call to keep up with the demand! We need your help and we’d love to have you join us.

Here’s the deal: We need thoughtful and passionate folks to work a 1/2 day (4 hours) or full day shift (whichever you’d like) over the next few weeks, temporarily. It could be one-day or 5 days a week — your choice, we’d just love to see your smiling faces on the production floor!

Here’s what you’d be doing: Helping our production team with tasks! You will be measuring ingredients, scooping dough (it’s not heavy), putting product in packages with the team, helping out with dishes, making boxes, and generally helping out on the floor with like-minded friends!

Here’s what to expect: Shifts are between 8 AM to 6 PM, and times are flexible around your schedule. We ask you to get a Washington State Food Worker Card and you’d be trained on basic food safety and facility safety when you arrive at HQ. You’d be paid as an employee of Rebellyous. You can schedule only the shifts that work for you — so lots of flexibility. You will be wearing production-grade clean or new boots, smocks, and hairnets provided by Rebellyous.

Here’s what we need from you: We need your time for 1/2 or full day shifts for a couple times over the next few weeks. You need to be able to stand or walk around for the full 4 hours or 8 hours with rest breaks and lunch breaks. Granola bars and fruit provided for breaks. You will need to be able to do some light lifting and bending, but we can accommodate nearly any mobility limitation if you tell us ahead of time, so don’t let that stop you. You also need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and be able to provide proof for our records. We ask that you commit to just a few or more shifts in the next few weeks.

I would personally love to have you come work with us for this short stint! It’s going to be tons of fun, and you get to see the plant-based meat industry in action first hand changing the meat industry.

Will you join us for some short, manageable shifts to help out the cause? We look forward to hearing from you! Email us at apply@rebellyous.com.

Email: plamb@lhlappraisal.com if you are interested in learning more.

Real estate appraisal encompasses several fields of knowledge including aspects of real estate law, economics, finance, surveying, architecture and construction. It takes a true generalist to be successful. The work we do is challenging and intellectually stimulating on a daily basis. There is a lot of pressure to perform at a high level professionalism, not only in your report writing but also in your communication and interaction with clients and property owners.

A researcher/trainees role for the first 6 to 12 months will entail a great deal of data gathering, file managing, and working on report set-up and presentation, like preparing maps, pictures, editing property profiles, formatting, etc.. The analysis and report writing comes a bit later after you’ve taken some of the core appraisal curriculum.

Every appraisal report is essentially broken into many small tasks – several of which are automated, while several are assigned to the research/trainee. We use systems to allow us to train the new employees incrementally; progressing them into more complex task once they show proficiency each step along the way.

I’m in the same camp as those who object to this badly written law. I am one of those who is too close to retirement to ever benefit from the money I will be required to pay in for the remaining years I work. I recognize the value of having long term care insurance but at this time, cannot purchase an individual policy as all insurers have suspended the sale of these policies in the state of Washington. So I cannot legally opt out of this payroll deduction as I will not be able to buy a policy before the deadlines. This is also thanks to this badly written law where you only have to show proof you have insurance, there is no requirement you maintain that policy. So once you prove to the state you have it and are exempted, you can cancel the policy.
For those who pay in, at 10 years you’re vested and you can make claims for care with a lifetime maximum of $36,500. Many of the people I know in long term care will tell you that is a pittance compared to the cost of their care. And you can bet those costs are only going to go up in the course of the next ten years.
I wish I knew if there was a lawsuit to stop the implementation of this law. I’d be glad to sign on to it. Meanwhile, I get to just kiss my hard earned money good bye as I will never see it again. I’d be better off taking that payroll deduction and investing it myself. At least then I’d actually have a nest egg which I could use for long term care expenses and I’d also earn the interest on my money.

I am so angry about this deduction. I am 58 and will be retiring in less than 10 years, and when I retire I am probably leaving Washington, so I will never see a dime of this benefit. I also can’t opt out because I am oxygen dependent, which means I do not qualify for any private long-term care coverage (believe me, I’ve tried, and long before this plan came up). So I have no way of opting out, and yet they are going to take my money even though I’ll never use it. I truly believe that anyone 5-10 years from retirement should be eligible to opt out without private coverage, but they’ll never do that since they need people like me to pay into it so they can pay out for everyone else.

mom2boys, you stated the State needs help with financial burdens due to medicaid so are you saying the State mis-ran their finances or the “people” have mis-used the State?
All employed people pay into this Trust Fund to have their medicare once they retire so this WA Care Fund is just another way of the Feds getting even more money from the working people?
    Definition of:
    Medicare
Medicare is an insurance program. Medical bills are paid from trust funds which those covered have paid into. It serves people over 65 primarily, whatever their income; and serves younger disabled people and dialysis patients. Patients pay part of costs through deductibles for hospital and other costs. Small monthly premiums are required for non-hospital coverage. Medicare is a federal program. It is basically the same everywhere in the United States and is run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency of the federal government.

    Medicaid
Medicaid is an assistance program. It serves low-income people of every age. Patients usually pay no part of costs for covered medical expenses. A small co-payment is sometimes required. Medicaid is a federal-state program. It varies from state to state. It is run by state and local governments within federal guidelines.

this may be a good deal only if you are planning on working for another 10 plus years otherwise i feel it is not.
The OP stated she recently retired and her husband plans on working only another 5 years those 5 yrs of him “paying into” this plan he will not be able to use any of it because if understood correctly the State is not going to pay out until Jan. 2025 but you will of had to of paid into it for 3 to 6 yrs??? not sure this part is confusing. With that said that money is as good as flushed down the toilet!
You also said our whole system needs an overhaul so why should us people that have worked hard all these years and have paid into the “system” fix something that won’t do any good for us?
This was on the ballot last November and the voters rejected it, how can legislation just overturn our vote?
The Wa. Care Fund is just not right especially for the near to retirement people.

I will more than likely have animals and they will need care, I have rescues lined up, that is why I have life insurance, as they are my children and will need to be cared for. I update my will yearly.

THAT some people may be eligible, well ALL PEOPLE should be eligible….that is my issue.

If anyone else has found out where to opt out can you post it. I am getting the run around for sure.

Friends! To meet extraordinary demand at Rebellyous Foods, we are looking for great, mission-dedicated people to come help out on a short-term basis. The world is truly ready to replace chicken on a large scale, and we are heeding the call to keep up with the demand! We need your help and we’d love to have you join us!
