SDOT has a list of approved arborists for this work. You might also contact Jim LeBlanc, SDOT arborist for West Seattle, as he should probably look at the trees first and also make a recommendation for replacement. If you’re hoping to turn the planting strip (official term) into a “parking strip” that is not allowed. Jim’s number is 206-684-4134. Thank you for following proper procedure; I see far too many street (and other) trees either removed illegally or butchered by well-meaning (?) or untrained homeowners.

I lost my prescription sun glasses maybe on Alki Saturday April 18. They have black frames, nose pads and had keepers on them. They may also have been in a fabric/leather soft envelope-type case. We walked from Beach Dr. along Constellation Park and Alki all the way to the pier before you reach Don Ameci. I’d appreciate any info!

If this is OK to post here,
    A community member in west Seattle connection group recommended i may be able to share here;

my mom works at the Roxbury Safeway. I hear all the time about how much she loves her customers and that’s the only reason why she’s still at Safeway. On Thursday 4/2/2026 she had surgery due to a worker’s injury that she was denied L&I and will be out of work for three months. Every time I go into the store everyone tells me how much they love my mom, “oh your sue’s daughter” and you customers are what make her day better and keep her working there dispute the harsh unfair treatment from the company. I’ve started a go fund me to support her recovery during this difficult time.

Donate to help my mom recover, keep stabilized housing and take care of medical bills post surgery. Due to being denied works injury, she’s forced to pay her surgery out of pocket and is out of work for 3 months.
Even if you can’t donate a simple share to show her love, help’s.
Also if you happen to know if any legal advice for injury/disability that would be very helpful. We’ve had a hard fight with Safeway regarding her injury and disability.

Seattle residents should urge the City Council to prohibit cryptocurrency kiosks, often called crypto ATMs. These machines resemble bank ATMs but operate with virtually no meaningful consumer protections. Of the more than 900 crypto kiosks licensed statewide by the Washington Department of Financial Institutions, 73 are located in Seattle. None are subject to limits on fees or transaction amounts, nor are operators required to provide refunds. These are protections other states have adopted to reduce scam-related harm. Yet, even where regulations exist, enforcement has proven difficult. Connecticut, for example, revoked licenses after operators failed to comply.
The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center reports a continued sharp rise in complaints and losses tied to crypto kiosks. In 2025 alone, losses increased 58 percent, with older and vulnerable individuals disproportionately affected. Once cash is deposited and converted to cryptocurrency, recovery is nearly impossible.
Cities are stepping in where states have not. Spokane banned crypto kiosks last summer, and other cities across Washington state are now considering similar action. Meanwhile, Washington’s Legislature has failed twice to pass consumer protections, leaving local governments to act.
This is not about cryptocurrency itself, it’s about stopping a tool that is widely used to steal from vulnerable residents. Seattle should lead by banning crypto kiosks.

    Hello!

I’m a West Seattle–based painter, art educator, and musician, and your post immediately caught my attention. Carrington Moore’s work is stunning! I love the idea of supporting the “creative engine” behind an active studio practice.

I bring a mix of hands-on arts experience and strong organizational skills. I’ve worked in a similar support role for a renowned Canadian musical artist. I managed the day to day operations of her indie label. I oversaw an online shop, handled website updates, and fulfilled orders. I’m very comfortable with packing and shipping artwork, managing inventory, and keeping systems organized and functional.

In addition, I have many years of experience in administrative roles—marketing, communications, and development—which has made me highly detail-oriented and skilled at building and maintaining systems. I genuinely enjoy creating structure behind the scenes so creative work can thrive.

As a working artist myself, I’d be excited to contribute to your studio and support your process. I also love the idea of being part of a growing studio environment and helping refine workflows.

I am seeking part time arts related work. I am available and flexible.

I’d love to connect and learn more.
    Warmly,

Yeah, I’m currently dealing with this exact situation. The mold keeps coming back despite repeated cleanings, and we’re being told to run dehumidifiers 24/7 and leave windows cracked while the heat is on… all while covering the increased utility costs ourselves.

We’ve also been told they’re ‘actively looking into long-term solutions to a known moisture issue with the building,’ but there’s been no timeline or real update. Meanwhile, neighbors have already terminated their lease over the same issue, and their unit is already listed again for immediate move-in, which doesn’t exactly inspire confidence that anything is actually being fixed.

I really appreciate your response! I’ve been trying to figure out how long this has been going on and whether these ‘long-term solutions’ ever actually happen. Because aside from this, I genuinely love the place. It’s just becoming really frustrating dealing with constant cleaning and having personal items get damaged.

You’re definitely looking at both sides of the problem, which is good.

From what I’ve seen, basement issues like this usually start outside with drainage (downspouts, grading, yard slope), but once water gets in, it can quickly turn into a bigger water damage problem behind walls and flooring.

I’ve come across similar situations where people focused only on French drains but didn’t fully deal with the moisture already inside — that’s when mold and hidden damage start developing.

In cases like this, it really helps to understand how water damage Las Vegas situations are handled, especially when it comes to proper drying, cleanup, and preventing it from happening again.

I’d fix the source first, then look at drainage solutions to keep water away long term.
