In the last couple weeks of walking and driving in the neighborhood I have seen SO MANY people in West Seattle driving along, heads blissfully down in their phones. Old people. young people. It seems like SO MANY so come on, West Seattlites – don’t deny you’re doing it. Just tell me what is SO EFFING IMPORTANT that you’d risk someone’s life. Please. I am dying to know. Maybe the bearded dude in the silver Kia Soul this morning on Fauntleroy could tell me? He could barely manage the speed limit because he was so engrossed in his phone. This was right after the school zone, so I am sure he went thru the zone with his head down, potentially running over children. Nice. Maybe the middle-aged lady in the Toyota Rav4 on Fauntleroy this morning? Maybe the crazy old lady in a Buick SUV on Roxbury last week? Just want to give you all a sincere middle finger, and I hope you all crash your cars into something stationary causing no injuries or damage to anyone but your stupid, selfish selves. I am already grossed out enough by humanity these days and then I see people so selfishly wrapped up in their phones while driving and I think we all truly are doomed. So in short, screw you – every single one of you who drives with phone in hand, eyes not on the road. WE ALL SEE YOU, A-HOLES.

JanS, for the record, I was asking the question on the two statements that were made that seem to be conflicting.
I do not always disagree with abortion, as I understand there are circumstances that will occur when it is necessary. But using it as birth control is not excuse. And in my opinion that is how it is being used today.
Planned Parenthood also supplies birth control pills and devices to help with birth control. Women have all sorts of ways to PREVENT getting pregnant. Yet the majority of them are simply uneducated on the subject (lack of parenting) or they are simply too lazy to take care of it. NOT ALL, but most.
And no where did I ever say I was a man or a woman, I’ll leave that up to your imagination. My point was if the roles were reversed would women’s natural feelings about children and being a mother themselves make them think differently if men were the ones killing what you think is not a life.
We can agree to disagree but I think the entire “women’s right to do with my body as I see fit” is a myth based on a lawyers argument that convinced the supreme court to make the call they did. And I would imagine any woman who has had an abortion never felt good about it. I know a few of my friends are still haunted by the decision they made some 20 years later.
Why is that? Because it was a life.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA….if a man could get pregnant, birth control would be a necessity, pain medication would be guaranteed…I don’t think a man could handle it. And, WTH….who the hell are you, a man, to decide what a woman can and cannot do with her body. You CAN’T get pregnant…and you don’t get to decide for the rest of us. Good grief ! A fetus is not a baby, and if it’s so important to you to make women carry all babies to term, whether it kills the mom or not, you’d better be getting a huge home abd adopting the babies that are born. Oh, yeah….that’s right…you don’t give a rat’s behind if those children grow up in poverty, or if they are loved, or beaten, or abused…but they better damned well be born.

For now, it is a legal medical procedure for women, and until that changes, you simply need to accept that fact. Your moral indignation doesn’t count for anything….perfection (meaning you and your life) is very illusive, indeed. Just like your name, you are a dinosaur. Take care of yourself, and your business…stay out of other’s…thank you.

    Hello,

My name is Colin Sprague and I am a casting producer at Punch Drunk Pictures in Los Angeles. I am casting a new cable network series in Seattle that is a essentially a home re-model series done with both people and pets in mind. Give the write up below a read and if you are at all interested, I’d love to hear from you and give you more details!

The series is called “Animal House” and it is a home re-model series with a focus on pets. The idea comes from the fact that houses have always been designed strictly for human use. Overtime, pets have moved out of the backyard and into our living rooms, becoming a larger part of the family. However, house design has not adjusted to this fact. “Animal House” follows renowned designer, HGTV star and Seattle native Antonio Balletore as he re-imagines homes with both people and their pets in mind.

I am trying to contact enthusiastic pet owners in the Seattle area who are already planning on re-modeling their home (i.e. have a budget in mind) and might want the expert eye of Antonio to help design and re-imagine a space for themselves and their pets.

If you are interested in being involved or learning more about this opportunity please write an email to casting@punchdrunkpictures.com or email me directly at colin@punchdrunkpictures.com with the following information:

    Size of family
    Number of Pets
    Types of Pets
    an email/phone number
A little about yourself, your home and your pet(s)
What areas of your home you want to address in a remodel
    Your target remodel budget

I’ve included a link to Punch Drunk Pictures website in my signature below if you’d like to get a better sense of who we are and the projects we produce. Please feel free to email me if you are at all interested and I’ll be happy to talk your ear off about the series!

    Thank you,

Matador is not a bar is it? And yes, even restaurants have loud music, which makes the customers have to talk louder.
I have stopped going to these places, as my partner and I like to have a conversation over dinner.

Yep, every single dog owner in WS (including me) is rude. Thanks for the clarification. For petesakes, like everything else in life, there are jerks and good guys. The IDIOTS who bag their dog’s crap and then throw it away are worthless, I get it. But keep in mind they’re the minority morons.

I’m always amazed at how angry people get when someone throws their bagged poop into someone’s garbage can. It’s a GARBAGE CAN! It’s not sanitary! How can you contaminate it any further than it already is?

Mark, setting up a router and cable modem is something plenty of people have done with a little studying or a quick-start guide appropriate to the manufacturer. Typically, it’s more work programming all the devices to connect to the new wifi network.

There’s a very different set of tools and concerns involved with running internet wires (cat 5 or cat 6 cable, nowadays), particularly if you’re going to run it exterior to the home because most of that cable isn’t rated for outdoor/uv exposure like that. When I ran a bunch of network cable in this home, I ended up buying tools/keystone jacks/keystone plates from monoprice and found it a lot easier to run cable in the uninsulated interior walls by drilling up from the unfinished basement. In a few places, I was able to swap out old cable or phone jack coverplates and replace those with coverplates that held multiple types of plugs.

Some people are saying that we should give Donald Trump a chance, that we should “work together” with him because he won the election and he is “everyone’s president.”
    This is my response:
•I will not forget how badly he and so many others treated former President Barack Obama for 8 years…
•I will not “work together” to build a wall.
•I will not “work together” to persecute Muslims.
•I will not “work together” to shut out refugees from countries where we destabilized their governments, no matter how bad they might have been, so that we could have something more agreeable to our oligarchy.
•I will not “work together” to lower taxes on the 1%.
•I will not “work together” to increase taxes on the middle class and poor.
•I will not “work together” to help Trump use the Presidency to line his pockets and those of his cronies.
•I will not “work together” to weaken and demolish environmental protection.
•I will not “work together” to sell American lands to companies which then despoil those lands.
•I will not “work together” to enable the killing in any way of whole species of animals just because they are predators, or inconvenient for a few, or because some people want to get their thrills killing them.
•I will not “work together” to remove civil rights from anyone.
•I will not “work together” to waste trillions more on our military when we already have the strongest in the world.
•I will not “work together” to alienate countries that have been our allies for as long as I have been alive.
•I will not “work together” to slash funding for education.
•I will not “work together” to take basic assistance from people who are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.
•I will not “work together” to allow torture and “black op” prison sites.
•I will not “work together” to “take their oil.”
•I will not “work together” to get rid of common sense regulations on guns.
•I will not “work together” to eliminate the minimum wage.
•I will not “work together” to support so-called “Right To Work” laws, or undermine, weaken or destroy Unions in any way.
•I will not “work together” to suppress scientific research, be it on climate change, fracking, or any other issue where a majority of scientists agree that Trump and his supporters are wrong on the facts.
•I will not “work together” to criminalize abortion or restrict health care for women.
•I will not “work together” to increase the number of nations that have nuclear weapons.
•I will not “work together” to put even more “big money” into politics.
•I will not “work together” to violate the Geneva Convention.
•I will not “work together” to give the Ku Klux Klan, the Nazi Party and white supremacists a seat at the table, or to normalize their hatred.
•I will not “work together” to deny health care to people who need it.
•I will not “work together” to increase the profits of the insurance companies.
•I will not “work together” to deny medical coverage to people on the basis of an alleged or actual “pre-existing condition.”
•I will not “work together” to increase voter suppression.
•I will not “work together” to normalize tyranny.
•I will not “work together” with anyone who is, or admires, tyrants and dictators.
•I will not “work together” with Donald Trump or anyone who supports him, because I will not allow one man to feed upon the fears of the populace, blaming minorities for their condition or their inability to thrive.
This is the line, and I am drawing it.
•I will stand for honesty, love, respect for all living beings, and for the beating heart that is the center of Life itself.
•I will use my voice and my hands, to reach out to the uninformed, and to anyone who will LISTEN for what’s really so dangerous about Donald Trump, his friends and the Big Lie they spin to the world:
That “winning”, “being great again”, “rich” or even “beautiful” is anything more than nothing… When others are sacrificed to glorify its existence.

thanks for the sympathy, jissy. it does suck.

my state/regional bank (i.e. not chase, wells fargo, BA, etc.) isn’t helping, either.

not only did grifters take $180 from my account, when i went to my home branch to fill out a dispute form, they made me feel as if i was stealing from them. i understand that that $180 has to be written off as loss/theft, but i don’t think it’s wise to give the stink-eye to a loyal customer who hasn’t had so much as an overdraft in over 10 years.

but they did “expedite” a new debit card – 3-5 business days instead of 7-10, yippee – for a $40 fee.

gee, thanks. and, yes, i did argue my case politely to a branch manager.

i’m not calling this a rant or identifying the bank yet, because i’m not finished savoring my righteous indignation until i see that +$180.

    [multiple expletives deleted]

and, yes, i will be taking my business elsewhere.

I’m looking for a 1 bdrm apartment, mil cottage (no basements!),etc. if anyone knows of one less then $1400/ month I’d appreciate a heads up. Also I could use suggestions on where to look besides Craigslist. I really don’t want to move to a big complex in Kent! I’ll go to Kent before I live in one of those micro studio jokes.
