Where the Jobs Are…Not a job Fair, but a workshop to help Veterans get into the job game! Mark your calendars now for November 3, 2012, 9 am-1 pm. This event is free but space is limited. Doors will open at 8:30 am.

If you are a veteran or an adult aged 40 plus, and you are seeking information about really good jobs that need qualified workers, jobs that will continue to grow in need of skilled qualified workers, plan on attending the Occupational Resource Fair on the South Seattle Community College (WSB sponsor) campus on the morning of Saturday, November third.

This event is planned by two members of the Rotary Club of West Seattle Vocational Committee and two South Seattle Community College (SSCC) staff members from WorkForce and WorkSource offices.

“We want to provide a one stop shop for veterans and mature adults wanting assistance in developing their individual career plans”, says Cathy Rouyer, Rotarian. “This is not a job fair but a time to hear and receive information from experts about what jobs will provide a career now and into the future, “ adds Jan Secor, Rotarian.

The occupational fields highlighted at this event are Manufacturing and Industry, Business Information Technology, and Health. These are the three fields of growth determined by the most recent data analysis and report from the Washington Department of Employment Security Data.

“Veterans and mature adults wanting to restart their lives and careers with occupations that offer good pay and benefits and demand for qualified employees now and into the future may find what they are looking for at this event, “ according to Jan Secor and Cathy Rouyer.

Rotary members, as volunteers, conduct projects to address today’s humanitarian challenges, including illiteracy, disease, hunger, poverty, lack of clean water, and environmental concerns while encouraging high standards in all vocations. Rotary members strive to build goodwill and peace, and provide humanitarian service in their communities and throughout the world.

The Rotary Club of West Seattle utilizes five avenues of service: Club, Vocational, International, New Generations and Community to connect with the community.
