Army helicopters back, Seahawks flyover-bound

(Added: WSB photo, from South Delridge)

Just in case you missed Wednesday’s hubbub about three U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopters from Joint Base Lewis McChord circling in our area, the base finally officially confirmed they were training for a flyover at tonight’s Seahawks game. The game’s about half an hour away and the helicopters are back; we just saw them flying eastward over White Center.

Thanks. They just flew over my house. I said to myself: what’s up with the helicopters? I know, I’ll check West Seattle Blog. They’ll know!

Just saw/heard them fly over Highpoint. Very cool.

Zero cool things about military industrial complex. Jingoism and Imperialism isn’t “cool” on any level.

I love helicopters as much as the next guy, but they just do flew by so low it sucked the hot tub cover off of my hot tub. Almost like it was being sucked into a spaceship. I love freedom, but I LOVE my hot tub. This is on a whole. notha.  level.

They went directly over my place on 12th ave sw. I have a hot tub. I was outside sitting with my dog. Even took a video of them flying over. There was absolutely no upward wind or sucking air effect. I call your statement ‘fake news’, respectfully. Go Seahawks!

How does everyone in the ‘hood have a hot tub besides me?

    • Rob October 10, 2024 (6:21 pm)

That’s some funny 😁 stuff right there

Deep… Let me guess; the cover flew up to the spaceship, got wrapped around the rotors,… Black hawk down??… Go Hawks!

I totally understand! One minute you’re living your best hot tub life, and the next, it’s like a scene from “Independence Day”—your cover gets abducted by a helicopter! At this point, I’d just start charging admission for the show. “Come witness the great hot tub heist! Bring your own towel and prepare for takeoff!” Who knew freedom meant risking your relaxation to the UFOs?

I’m sure it feels good to see how funny you can be by making the above comments about me, and my hot tub helicoopter event that happened to me on Thursday. But just want everyone know – this is my hot tub cover after. Hmmm, not so funny after all. I put it back on the hot tub and now this time I put cinder blocks on it. #preparednow #hottub

LIES! There is no Seahawks game going on! The 49ers are playing but the Seahawks never showed up.

  • Mark B October 10, 2024 (6:47 pm)

I was running a little north of the north entrance to Lincoln Park and they flew directly over me.  My hat didn’t fly off, I wasn’t knocked down, and I wasn’t startled by them. I simply thought “cool” and kept going.

  • Rhonda October 10, 2024 (10:50 pm)

They should’ve evacuated the Seahawks to a safer location to save them from the 49ers.

Lots of money to waste on helicopter and jet fuel but us po folks are starving and facing medical neglect, housing shortages, closed schools, etc , etc .And now we have added pollution to suck up along with the recurring wildfire smoke and industrial discharges.

    • "Get to da choppah!" October 11, 2024 (12:35 pm)

Those young, brave men and women in those helicopters make less money than “us po folks” and they protect us from a devastating, environment-wrecking invasion of the USA. They’re required to conduct regular formation training flights, anyway, so there’s ZERO wasted fuel.

Invasion?  You’ve got to be joking.  When was the last war that the U.S. fought to protect our borders?  WWII?  In the interim, we’ve been in everyone else’s backyard with hundreds of interventions and behind the scenes toppling of foreign governments.   The U.S. is the “big stick” in the world, not Russia or China.

Scarlett, I side with you on everything except lightrail. I just don’t get how you’re usually on the level w/r/t society and its militarization industrial complex, but so off the mark when it comes to transporting working class who cannot afford a car or afford to waste time on a bus that requires drivers and sharing with cars and 6000x the pollution than trains.

        • "Get to da choppah!" October 11, 2024 (4:02 pm)

You just reinforced my position by exclaiming that the U.S. hasn’t been invaded. That means these training flights have been paying off since WWII. Thanks.

WOW Scarlett. Sad you feel such dislike for our country. I hope you never have experience our big stick protecting your freedom.

  • Scarlett October 12, 2024 (2:43 pm)

This is my country, too, and I’ll call my government out when it acts badly.   This is what it means to be a patriot, T Rex.  Sycophants are a dime a dozen in this world.

Sorry, comment time is over.
