WEATHER

Mostly cloudy, chance of rain, high in the mid-40s. While the sunset might not be visible, if you’re taking heart in the longer days, note that starting at 5:01 pm tonight, the sun sets after 5 pm (until November 5th).

TODAY’S TRANSIT STATUS

Metro is on a regular schedule today but still running with fewer buses and fewer drivers – keep watching notification channels such as @kcmetroalerts for trip cancellations and route suspensions (far fewer of those alerts so far this week).

-The West Seattle Water Taxi is on its regular schedule.

-WSF’s Triangle Route remains on a two-boat schedule – check here for alerts/updates.

Don’t let the fewer metro alerts fool you. I haven’t been receiving any since Monday but the bus cancellations/reductions are all the same. One Bus Away is not accurate and the Departures text tool are not in real time for the 56/57 in the afternoon.

Thanks. We’re subscribed to most if not all routes and overall the volume has been dramatically lighter for a few days. But firsthand experience always beats automated alerts.

The way they worded the alerts on Monday, they seem to have decided these are indefinite suspensions of service. They called them Reminders and sent most of them out Monday morning (including Reminders for afternoon routes). Then nothing since. I subscribe to the 55, 56 and 57 alerts.

WSB, can you please remind me if footage from the “Spotlight” traffic cameras can be acquired for use as evidence for anything other than traffic violation-related purposes?  For example:  footage that shows if someone at the bus stop is assaulted, or if a house is broken into. (I thought I had read that some of the footage from cameras on the low bridge could not be used as evidence against the driver accused of hitting and killing the bicyclist last year.)  Thank you.

For cyclists heading to/from downtown, there is an encampment sweep or cleanup happening on the Elliot Bay trail just north of  S Atlantic Street, with a detour set to the west side of the trail. SDOT is onsite directing traffic.

That one has been a long time coming.

Rode past this (newly vacant) encampment earlier tonight. Looked so unfamiliar, almost unsettling. Saw a bunch of rats aimlessly crisscrossing the bikepath alongside. They also seemed to be disoriented. As in “who stole my cheese?”

Sorry, comment time is over.
