6:12 AM: Welcome to Friday – the 200th morning without the West Seattle Bridge.

ROAD WORK, ETC.\

*Southbound 1st Avenue S. Bridge: Short closures for “temporary repairs” may happen again today, between 6 am and 3 pm.

*Delridge project: The SW Oregon closure that was supposed to start this morning is now postponed until next weekend.

*Lander Street Bridge in SODO: This is the third morning that it’s officially open.

CHECK THE TRAFFIC BEFORE YOU GO

Here’s the 5-way intersection camera (Spokane/West Marginal/Delridge/Chelan):

Here’s the restricted-daytime-access (open to all 9 pm-5 am) low bridge:

The main detour route across the Duwamish River is the 1st Avenue South Bridge (map) . Here are two cameras:

The other major bridge across the river is the South Park Bridge (map). Here’s the nearest camera:

Going through South Park? Don’t speed.

Check the @SDOTBridges Twitter feed for info about any of those bridges opening for marine traffic.

You can see all local traffic cams here; locally relevant cameras are also shown on this WSB page.

Hearing that permanent repairs on s bound 1st s bridge will entail a 2 WEEK 24/7 closure. Also hearing city is leaning to NOT repair high bridge but replace it.

      (a) No, they’re looking at 24/7 LANE closures, not entire bridge. Explained here (along with more on what is being fixed)

      (b) The “leaning toward” is how anyone could extrapolate the information we reported from the CTF meeting.

I suspect that the sooner the city can lean into some replace $$$$, with a little help from the feds, the sooner they can replace the high bridge. And I believe there’s a huge chasm between repair and replace $$$$.

200 days without a bridge!  That is over 6 months.  We actually will be receiving a decision on a this project in two weeks!  I’m sure no one will be happy with it, but will be an interesting test for the true effectiveness of our local  political leadership.  Do we do a short term (doable) band aid or attempt to do the full meal deal where funding is not known.  Hope we see that there is a light at the end of this long tunnel.  https://mynorthwest.com/2216091/west-seattle-bridge-decision-sdot-leans-replacement/
