UPDATE: Long-promised 35th/Barton left-turn lights installed

ORIGINAL FRIDAY REPORT: Thanks to Aaron for the photo! The long-promised left-turn signal lights are finally installed, though not yet activated, at 35th/Barton. They were promised when SDOT announced Phase 2 of the 35th SW Safety Project more than a year and a half ago. We will be checking Monday for the activation timeline.

SATURDAY NIGHT UPDATE: No need to check – just went through the intersection and the new turn lights are now working.

    It’s a miracle.

    Woohoo!!!

Amazing! hope they turn it on soon!!!! I’ve seen so many (including 2 cars tonight)… turning left on  an ‘i turned red a long time ago’ lights.  So many close calls. Don’t know why the City of Seattle has a thing against protected left turns.  Maybe they can take a look at 26th / Roxbury next. At that intersection, you literally need to count to 15 before going (when YOUR light turns green), because there’s 3 cars running the red light…. because that’s the only way you can turn left from Roxbury…

8th and Roxbury is similar.  I watched four cars (two either direction) run the red light at the same time.  I very cautiously cross Roxbury on 8th.  Most of the time I choose another route.

I know I’m getting old when I yell “heck yeah!” at a local intersection post. But HECK YEAH!

Finally an SDOT ‘improvement’ that should actually be an improvement/good investment!Unlike the very new giant sidewalk on South Cloverdale St and 5 th Ave S where they had to add 2 giant orange and white barricades 6 feet tall because the sidewalk looks like a road!

Yay!!!!  Great news!  Now let’s please add them to Barton and 26th!

It’s about time all intersections should have left turn arrows that aren’t green the same time as cross walk signals. So may dangerous intersections in West Seattle.

Sorry, comment time is over.
