West Seattle Crime Watch: Can you help catch these shoplifters?

Amanda at Pharmaca in The Junction is hoping someone can help identify the shoplifters in that video:

These women have been in our shop and others in the Alaska Junction multiple times stealing. Not only do they hit us, they then turn around and scam other people by selling the items online. … They are normally just two African American women I would say mid twenties, always dressed nice but always with big bags. The one is about 5’4″ and this time had blue braids. The other girl who normally comes with her is about 5’4″-5’6″. They are mostly non-confrontational but when approached become rude and intimidating.
So it’s the two girls who have come before, and this last time they had a pregnant friend with them … The car they left in was an approx 2003 silver Toyota Corolla with (a license plate starting with BIG).
You can call us at 206-932-4225. If you can recognize these women, or know the car, please reach out to me. I also have Officer Daily on the case, who can be reached at 206-733-9800.

WOW they just DO NOT CARE at all! How disrespectful! I hope these girls get that sweet taste of KARMA, she can be a real B

I am amazed at how brazen they are about jamming products into their bags.  I hope you catch them!

    Brazen

Easy fix- require all bags (not just shopping) be left behind the counter. If they doth protest, you’ll know why

Wow, they’re not even trying to be inconspicuous. Career criminals in the making. Should be pretty easy to identify and catch them since they’re morons.

People steal like that because they know employees have a no confrontation policy and police won’t be there for minutes or hours..

You should offer a reward for information.  I’m sure some of their clients could use the money.  We had to do that with a residential theft we had.

I put things in my canvas bag while grocery shopping so that I limit it to what will fit i the bag, and then, of course, I go through the check out line and actually buy the items before leaving.  But, I am now sure I must be of interest to the security people looking at the stores’ videos!

But if you tried to stop them they would knock you out.

I would snap their picture as they walk in.  Have a sign that says customers will be photographed, clearly displayed on the door.  Then have the police trespass them.  Also, a sign that says we have the right to refuse service to anyone displayed on the door is another way to fight that.

@Dovetail…why would you do that, that’s just “shaking my head”???

  • waikikgirl August 15, 2018 (4:09 pm)

OH and WHY, WHY did the video stop right where it did… I wanted to see what that man(???) walking towards them from the right was going to do!

If they have a vehicle description and partial plate number, you’d think they could easily identify them, right??

A nice big German Shepherd patrolling the store with a guard might deter such people. Seriously, why not post an employee at the back of the store, or wherever these girls congregate?

Same group that hits White Center Bartells!

  • Seattlite August 15, 2018 (6:26 pm)

So bold and cavalier about stealing. I would not approach them because they could be packing a weapon.  The video is clear so hopefully someone will know who they are and call the police. All the employees at Pharmaca are so nice.

Shoplifters cost us all money, via higher prices as shop owners need to cover their losses.  I hope the cops catch the thiefs and make them pay restitution for their crime.

Waikiki girl:  I have seen others do this instead of putting things in the plastic basket at the store and it just saves a step and makes sure when I go for a small list of things that they will actually fit in the bag I bring (I have a tendency to drift from my list!).  The store doesn’t have a problem with it (I’ve asked) and like I said, got the idea from others.  I have no ill-intent.  I have thought the security people must be watching to make sure I pay!  That  was all.  I was just thinking  after viewing this video that the security people must have me on their radar and if I see a store employee on the actually few times I am doing this that I tell them what I am dong.  These girls obviously have ill-intent, and should be caught and punished.

Sometime ago I asked one of the  employees at Thriftway about using my canvas bag for shopping. She said that they prefer that you not.  Not everyone that uses their own bag to shop pays unfortunately and employees have to take  the time to see if you are one of their trusted shoppers or someone that may not pay. I use a basket now.

I do this too, it’s not a big deal. These individuals used their purses to steal, anyhow.

  • Graciano August 16, 2018 (4:49 am)

Exactly…use a basket and or cart that’s what they are there for and it makes it much easier for the checker and “you” to put the items onto the belt to pay for them, not trying to pull items out of a flimsy bag and then having to put them back into it.Plus the store knows or doesn’t have to wonder “are they shoplifting”?

  • John August 16, 2018 (12:32 pm)

I feel really bad for the store. It’s really hard to be in business especially with companies like amazon making anything you want just a click away. I really don’t understand the callousness of these girls. I wonder what they would do to someone they caught stealing from them?

  • Clyde Hill August 21, 2018 (10:23 pm)

    They’re coming for you girls.

  • SirBob42 September 3, 2018 (9:32 am)

As a guy that works in a grocery store, please don’t do this. Anytime I see someone I don’t know shopping into their own bag, I assume they are stealing. Even if you go through the checkout I don’t know what you might have just kept in the bag. Just use the baskets/carts.

Sorry, comment time is over.
