9:30 PM: We have just talked to police. A woman showed up in the coffee shop claiming she was stabbed, but turned out not to be injured at all. She is “in crisis,” however, and is being taken to the hospital by private ambulance for an evaluation.

Why wouldn’t the staff be ok?

That comment was posted before we updated with details. All we had at the start was that it was an “assault with weapons” call at Uptown. It was my first thought too upon seeing police *inside* the coffee shop. – TR

My thought also was if staff was okay due to about 2 weeks ago.. wasn’t a barista robbed at this very same location? I was concerned that the worker(s) might be traumatized again so soon.

The Uptown robbery was at the North Delridge shop. We’ve reported on two incidents across the street at the 7-11 lately, though – the guy who medics thought had been shot but instead had been stabbed, and the assault on an employee.

Is there a general description of the person in crisis?

    • WSB January 4, 2017 (10:43 pm)

Police mentioned only gender. Since no one was being sought – she was at the scene – there was no reason to ask about a description.

we now often hear the phrase “person in crisis” – what does that actually mean and what was this referred to in the past?

  • sue January 5, 2017 (10:48 am)

person in crisis used to = “mental”

  • seaspades January 5, 2017 (11:11 am)

It’s broader and less harsh than that…could be a mental health event, but as easily someone who is emotionally distressed or physically distressed due to, ahem, pharmaceuticals.

Shut down the 7-11 end of those problems.

The 7-11 that’s been there for 40 years or so now?
