4:05 PM: Two cars were broken into this afternoon after 1 pm outside the Walgreens at 35th and Morgan, according to Matt, and the only thing taken from his was the family’s Boston Terrier, seen in the photo above. He adds: “$500 reward. No question. He is like my wife’s child and she is inconsolable.”
8:13 PM: Matt reports in comments that their dog has been found! He adds to everyone who helped look and offered well-wishes, “THANK YOU ALL!”
Sad to hear about this. Is Matt sure these people took the dog and it didn’t hop out of the car? Maybe people can keep an eye out locally for a black and white Boston Terrier in case it’s on the loose. Did it have a collar and tags?
Ugh. So sorry to hear this. Will keep a lookout for the little fella. Broad-freakin’ daylight? Somebody saw this happen. Perps need to be quartered. I hate thieves…
We are certain he was taken, as nothing else of value was stolen (ipod, GPS, etc. all left behind.) He was wearing a black color with a silver bone tag with my phone number and a yellow rabies tag. Please, if anyone knows anything about what happened please contact us. He can be returned to any vet or shelter in the area, no questions asked. We just want him back.
I may have seen him up by the mortuary. I was driving home on sylvan way by the cemetery and spotted a black and white dog up on the hill. I couldn’t tell if the owner was nearby or not. I got home and saw this and went back over that way and walked around but didn’t see him. I’m so sorry. I hope he is returned and unharmed!
Aren’t there cameras that would have caught who was coming and going?
I saw this dog next to the cemetery and the town house development on the road down to Home Depot.
The dog ran across the street toward the town houses.

This is so sad. If this little dog was actually taken (rather than jumping out as suggested by Mike above) it is beyond cruel. We live closeby on Gatewood Hill and will our eyes open for him and hope for a happy and quick reunion of pup and family.
Thank you all. We are out hanging flyers now and have called all the vets and shelters. We had a break in not three weeks ago and this is so much worse than that.
It happened at Walgreens on 35th. My wife ran in to get a prescription and when she came out our car and an SUV next to us had been broken into. They had a gym bag stolen and our GPS and iPod was left alone. They were after the dog. I read an article a couple years ago that pet thefts go up just before valentines day…. We rescued him through NW bulldog rescue after he was deemed unadoptable due to medical problems and was slated to be put down. We nursed him back to health and he has been happy with us for 2.5 years. Absolutely the best dog either of us has ever has. $500, no questions. Really.
Any break in; auto, homes, the police want it reported. So hope you get your dog back!! They are just like one of the children in your family!

I was headed to Home Depot anyway and decided to wander the cemetary and Sylvan Ridge area, and no sign of the dog. I am heart broken for you guys. I hope your dog returns soon, safe and sound.

This reaffirms me that I won’t patronize that Walgreens anymore,there are always shady people in or near that store 24/7.Im sticking with Bartells.ALSO,will the dog come to a stranger if he’s summoned?I didn’t catch its name either.

We have followed up on all the tips with a group of friends and family and walked 35th and around the cemetery and town house above. Walked up and down Delridge. ArouNd OLG. Asked everyone we met. Just regular Boston markings with a hint of brindle undercoat. Spot on his head.
We hope he just is warm and safe tonight.

Can you share his name so neighbors can call out to him? I recommend searching the neighborhood he has been seen in on foot, looking in every nook and cranny. Even if he hears you calling, he may be too frightened to respond but he is waiting for you to find him. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
I saw a dog that looked similar to this near the Highpoint soccer fields and Our Lady of Guadualupe church in the 7000 block of 34th Ave. SW at about 4:30pm today.

Brodie was found on 30th huddled beside the recycling can, cold and wet, but safe. THANK YOU ALL!! And a special thank you to both poster DJK for looking and driving and calling and to the man that found him and called us. There are good people in the world!

We drove a 10 block radius, no pup. I know he’s out there. If he went from the soccer fields down to 28th/Webster area, he’s on the move.
I’m hoping someone in our ‘hood brought him inside.

I’d had it with Walgreens after reading this story, so I wrote their corporate office and their investor relations dept. complaining about the degradation of that place. It’s peeing up a post hole, but sometimes you just have to have your say…
They need to implode that gas station there, too.

I was driving around chasing him for about 30 minutes in the 28th and Webster area around 5 pm. He was just too scared and would not come to me no matter what I tried. It might have been that when I first saw him I was walking my two big dogs, but I was soooo worried when I could not get him to come to me. He might also have been bothered that I resorted to driving but I couldn’t keep up with him. He must have been exhausted by the time he allowed someone to pick him up and get tag info. I finally lost him and was forced to go back home. Hopefully he never gets away again under any circumstances!
So very happy that the little guy was found. My heart was breaking for his family.
An update from Brodie’s mom: We were so happy to get the call from Scott last night. We were headed to get some take out at Budda Ruska as we were starving and couldn’t seem to feed ourselves with how we were feeling. We immediately turned around and drove to Scott’s house. The whole time we were so nevous, hoping and praying it was him. When Scott opened the door Brodie started wiggling in his arms. He hopped into mine and started licking my face. He was obviously cold and smelled a bit like garbage, but I didn’t care. After so many, many thanks to Scott, we headed back to get some dinner with Brodie in the middle of the truck seat between us. He crawled down to the floor to get warm by the heater, and when we stopped to get dinner I stayed in the truck with him. We will NEVER leave him in the car by himself again. My husband came out to be with us while we waited for our food, and Brodie has not left our sides for a second since we found him. To all who helped to look for him and spread the word, THANK YOU! Brodie is home safe and sound. He seems very tired, and is limping a bit, but seems happy to be home. At the moment of this writing he is curled up in his monkey-sock bed with a heating pad and a blanket, snoring as all Frenchies do. We are eternally greatful to the amazing WS community for helping us with our search, both in body and in spirit. Despite the horrible people who smashed my car window and started this terrible chain of events, I am still very proud to call WS my home.
Oh, so VERY happy he is home. He traveled far and wide. Such great news to start a week with. Yay!!!
Thank you, Brodie’s parents, for this latest update…we are so happy this crisis has a happy ending. As owners of a beloved canine family member, we can only imagine how stressful and traumatic this was for you. It really is great to know that WSB and the community can be so helpful in this, and so many other, situations. Cheers to you and little Brodie! :)
I was moving over the weekend and driving a one mile lap between High Point Drive and California on Morgan. All weekend I saw 4 guys walking up and down Morgan, mostly west of 35th Ave but also traversing over to the Walgreens parking lot and lingering there. They were flashing cash, talking to drivers in cars that were pulling up to corners, seemed to be transacting “business” and sharing a smoke of what looked to be much larger than a conventional cigarette. I, of course, called the non-emergency police line and they assured me that this activity would be checked out but am so very dismayed. I completely agree with WTF, Walgreens has become so sketchy that I literally will not take my daughter with me to go inside the store and try to avoid going in at all costs. Changing my scripts to Bartell and sending an email to Walgreens corporate!
