As always, the WSBeat summaries are from reports on cases handled recently by Southwest Precinct officers, beyond ongoing WSB breaking-news (etc.) coverage:
*Faced with a locked restroom door at a Westwood Village store, an anxious customer knocked and asked the person inside to hurry. After some time, the door opened. The occupant grabbed the knocker’s sunglasses and punched him in the face with a closed fist. The victim punched back, and the suspect exited the building. He was described as white, aged 50-64, about 6’2”, slim, with brown hair. He wore a brown baseball cap, brown shirt, and brown pants.
*Friday afternoon, a cyclist was riding his custom bicycle through the Alaska Junction and was hailed by a man who got off a bus. When the rider stopped, the man punched him in the face, knocked him off the bike, hopped aboard, and rode north in the alley toward SW Oregon St. The suspect is described as white, aged 30-49, 6’5” with fair complexion and blonde or strawberry short hair. He wore a red sweater and blue pants. The bike is worth about $1,600.
Six more summaries, ahead:
*Tuesday noon, a man climbed to the top of a building at 36th and Genesee and stood on the roof. With a Bible in one hand and his family jewels in another, he told officers he was waiting for God. He was transported to Harborview for a mental evaluation.
*Unknown persons stole $1,200 worth of copper wire from a business on 13th Ave. SW on Monday morning between 5:15 and 5:30. And on Wednesday, an employee reported that someone had broken into a construction site on Fauntleroy Way over the weekend and stolen several spools of wire worth over $4,500.
*The manager of an Alki-area apartment reports that a man has twice (once in December and once in January) managed to enter the supposedly secure building and distribute pizza advertisements. This month, he was caught on video in the laundry area trying to drill out the lock on a dryer in order to gain access to the coins. He was unsuccessful. He is described as white, aged, 22-29, around 5’10” tall with an athletic build.
*A 14-year-old reports that while she was walking near 9th SW and Cambridge on Tuesday afternoon, a man driving a blue Ford Mustang with tinted windows stopped his car and flirted with her. She was scared by the encounter, and when she warned him that she would call police he left. The suspect is described as Hispanic, aged 22-29, with medium build and short black hair.
*Following his victory on the mat, police say, a visiting wrestler from a high school outside Seattle was punched in the face by his opponent, who attends a local high school. The victim fell to the floor unconscious and injured his hip, while the suspect — witnesses say — was quickly “whisked away” from the gymnasium. Though no one called 911 at the time, officers were later dispatched to the Swedish Hospital emergency room to gather details.
*When a local woman filed her taxes, the IRS rejected them: It seems someone else had already filed a tax return using her Social Security number.
