My Niece and her 10 month old are visiting this week. They come from a landlocked town and want to visit a nice beach with some sand for Iza’s toes. Would love to know your favorite places to visit and enjoy the beach.

    Thank you kindly!

if during the week, Alki is OK. Another place is Seahurst Park – go out Ambaum, take a right at SW 144th St..follow signs down to the park. Parking on the left before you get all the way down….

If you want to go to the eastside there’s Meydenbauer Bay Park: http://parkstrails.myparksandrecreation.com/details.aspx?pid=92

Jack Block Park may not be exactly what you’re looking for, but it has a small, sandy-ish beach. It’s an interesting combination of coastline and industry as well as being a quiet alternative to the obvious Alki. Also, a great view of the city from the pier and crane. Bonus, plenty of parking and the big, metal buoy collection.

JanS, “Turn right at the upside down canoe skeleton” were the directions I was given to this little paradise. I had driven by a hundred times and never noticed.

If you want to stay in WS, Loman Beach is a sweet little park with a grassy lawn, swing set and rocky beach. At the northend entrance to Lincoln Park (at Beach Drive).

Seahurst is great. I got married there. Lincoln Park is nice too though the beach isn’t very big. Outside of West Seattle, I like Golden Gardens.

I definitely highly recommend Seahurst for little kiddos. It has a great tide pool and stream that heads out from the park into the sound. Much much better than Lincoln or Lowman Beach. And, no where near as crowded. Also, you can pick up great Mexican food in Burien on the way!
