JiggersMemberWhat’s your favorite restaurant/s in West Seattle and why? It must be a sit down place that gives table side service. Your places can go far south as White Center, or far north as Admiral District.

Love Jak’ (the food and ambiance)
Love La Rustica (the food and ambiance)
Angelina’s (the food and they are ALWAYS open – we tend to eat at weird times)
Luna Cafe (when it is sunny and warm and you can actually get a table outside)
Mission (the food is great)

yikesMemberI just love going to Angelina’s for their friendly and great staff, the real food for reasonable money. I see individuals and couples and families, all enjoying themselves. Diversity in a restaurant!
June 2, 2008 at 4:07 am #625841
charlabobParticipantStill Beato — reasonable portions, interesting and delish food and great atmosphere. And I love the wine pours.

AnonymousInactiveCharla – Thank you for that post! I have always wanted to try that place, but they never seem to be open when we are out and about.
We will be more persistent!

ShibaguyzMemberBlack Bird is just about our favorite place for any meal. Add to that Angelina’s and Buddha Ruska and we’re all good!
June 2, 2008 at 11:33 am #625844
JanSParticipantI’ll second Buddha Ruksa…and I definitely have a fondness for Circa…I think it’s the steak salad that keeps me going back…or the fact that it’s only a block from where I live :)
June 2, 2008 at 5:28 pm #625845
walfredoMemberJak’s, and La Rustica are tough to beat.
Also a big fan of Ama Ama, Blackbird, Mashiko, and thought Springhill was very good.
June 2, 2008 at 5:51 pm #625846
shihtzuParticipantI like Blackbird for dinner and really liked their breakfast. We always go to the Thai place in the junction (by curious kidstuff), but I’d like to try Buddha Ruksa. When I can ignore the TVs I’ve really liked Talaricos too.
I also really like Luna Park cafe, and of course Charlestown Cafe.
June 2, 2008 at 5:53 pm #625847
charlabobParticipantNR, Beato is open every day except Monday — 5-10 weekdays, 5-11 weekends. I’m anxious to hear what you guys think when you finally get there.

We still haven’t made it to Springhill because we’re carpooling these days and tend to drop by for early dinner after work — by 5:45 we’ve eaten leftovers at home and settled in front of the Tivo and computer screens, respectively. Maybe I’ll drive more slowly tonight.

JenVMemberhands down Jak’s is the best. Always great service and great food. Also love Buddha Ruksa, Luna Park, Elliot Bay- and thanks to Aim and Luis I am now a huge fan of Skylark! Tots!!
One more, it’s in White Center but close enough: Viva Mexico. The service keeps us coming back- the strong a$$ margaritas don’t hurt, either….

guitarboy53MemberCan’t forget about Ephesus near Rite Aid on California. It seems like Ephesus is West Seattle’s best kept secret for dinner!! :)
June 3, 2008 at 12:28 am #625850
TammiWSMemberLove, love Mashiko….Yum!
June 3, 2008 at 12:47 am #625851
dapuffinParticipantOoooh we have many favorites. In no particular order:
JaK’s – it’s ALL good. We went there last night to celebrate our new car purchase and had the filet maximillian.. yummmmmm!
Buddha Ruksa – it’s ALL good, but we especially like the crack chicken, the duck dishes, Tom Kha and the pumpkin prawn curry
West5 – Astral Mac & Cheese is a favorite of me and MrPuffin.
Mashiko – Never had a loser here, but the Southern Roll is a favorite, as is the dessert of tempura apple with plum sorbet with a sprig of mint. Incredible stuff!
Ephesus – Most everything we’ve had there over the years has been incredible, but I tend to order hummus and dolmades for appetizers and lamb shiskabob more often than not.
June 3, 2008 at 1:51 am #625852
wsmom42MemberMy family and I LOVE the Luna Park Cafe. Great to sit outdoors and the kids love the milkshakes! Gotta try it at least once!
June 3, 2008 at 2:44 am #625853
charlabobParticipantI’d like to add that you guys reminded me of Ephesus and ;-( they aren’t open on Monday nights. Talk about all dressed up …
June 3, 2008 at 4:52 am #625854
dapuffinParticipantLOL! I have a friend who visits me from New Jersey a few times a year. I don’t know how many times I’ve forgotten that Ephesus was closed on Mondays and drove there only to realize the mistake as we’re hitting the parking lot.
June 3, 2008 at 9:37 pm #625855
katiebeeParticipantWe are big fans of Pailin Thai in Admiral. Love their tom ka gai and their peanut sauce.
Pegasus Pizza is the best!
Our new favorite is Kokarus, the greek place near the Morgan junction. The only weird thing is that they don’t open for lunch until 1pm. If you haven’t been, try their small dinner platter so you can try everything!
June 3, 2008 at 9:44 pm #625856
SueParticipantThere are 3 places we bounce between a lot: Royal India, Kamei and Luna Park Cafe.
June 4, 2008 at 11:30 pm #625857
RasmusMemberPailin Thai is a favorite in our household as well – especially for take-out, but for a nice sit-down meal, our very favorite is Endolyne Joe’s. The food is awesome, the menu changes often enough and they make practically everything from scratch. Comfort food, yes, but goooooood! :)
June 5, 2008 at 1:55 am #625858
seattlesueMemberAma Ama is fantastic. It is a fun little place to go for Happy Hour…I love all the open windows on Calif Ave on a sunny night. Mmmmm fried oysters! :)
