captainDaveParticipantJanS: The name of our current wonderful president is apparently a massive trigger. It makes my posts disappear–but even worse, it causes immense mental distress to some of you. I could probably hyphenate it in different ways, but that would only call more attention to this amazing man. We (the Russian-backed deplorables) certainly don’t want to cause you lib-erals any more anxiety.
By the way, as someone who has worked as a copy editor for many years, I think your grammar, punctuation and sentence structure is very poor quality for having such a lofty left-ist education. You know what they say about people who throw rocks in glass houses.

Nothing like a little identity politics to attempt some more divisional conquest. I bet you have a photo of Saul Alinsky on your wall somewhere.
I have to say, it is quite fascinating to watch the abject stupidity that is happening on the left. You guys should have known there was a problem years ago when your party became more important than the people it was suppose to serve.

i have more to say, but i’m tired from working my a$$ off at my union construction job, where we have a huge labor shortage.
OT and by the way: do you know any young people who want to work hard for great benefits? the building trades are hiring. union and non-union. around here, union is the better bet. sadly, most of us don’t get sick days or paid holidays, and we work in inclement weather when we can.
i know it’s not sexy, but the trades provide awesome hands-on training and force workers to think on their feet. it pays well to those who are willing to work hard; especially if they can’t afford college and are seeking good careers.

mark47nParticipantRedblack, as a 20 yr licensed Master Electrician (formerly union, long story) and PM I say bully for you and, yes, skilled trades are in a severe shortage and it’s not going to get any better any time soon. It’s the shortage that the unions and various Dept’s of Labor around the country have been warning about…it’s here.
Just look for the union label…By the way, I’m careful to make sure that my Carhartts are union made (not all of them are) and I try to buy union made boots. It’s worth the extra pennies, folks. Buy American.

I agree that it might be likely that many of the .000001% of the population that identifies as neo national socialists or klanocrats may have been misled by the mainstream media to believe that Trump was going perform mass genocide for them, but that doesn’t seem to be happening.
On the other hand, there are a number of studies that seem to indicate that criminals are far more likely to vote democrat.
The problem with the word “liberal”, is that the meaning has been changed and bastardized so much over the years. Now you have everyone from libertarians and independents to socialists and communists calling themselves “liberals”. Hitler was a national socialist, so the ideology of many progressive liberals today would align well with Hitler’s centrally-controlled labor, economic, social and healthcare policies.
Strom Thurmond was a racist plant who switched sides to undermine Goldwater for LBJ in the 64 presidential elections. (My stepfather worked on the Goldwater Campaign, so I herd much about it growing up). The civil rights legislation was originally introduced by Republicans in 1874 (see Civil Rights Act of 1875, 1957 & 1960). It was the democrat “Jim Crow” laws that essentially nullified civil rights for almost a century, but LBJ knew the democrat suppression of minorities wasn’t going to last. Civil rights was always a Republican ideology until it was superficially pirated by LBJ as a strategy to win over uninformed voters. LBJ was a notorious racist but knew he had to capture the black vote to win. Goldwater did not oppose civil rights–he opposed certain aspects of the bill that affected planks of his campaign–specifically states rights and individual freedom issues. Keep in mind that far more Democrats opposed the 1964 civil rights act than Republicans. Goldwater voted for the 1957 and 1960 civil rights acts. The bottom line is that Democrats have always been the party of inequality, segregation and oppression. If you take away the veneer of the feel-good campaign promises and study the results of Democrat-run cities around the country, the reality is pretty obvious. The Democrat party has done more to harm women and minorities in the US than any foreign enemy could ever hope to achieve.

and if the programs you are promoting are realized they will be worse than they were then..

You would have been a democrat in 1964?I had an exchange yesterday with my favorite conservative yesterday (not you..) .. and about half way through i realized he really didn’t understand the difference between commerce ( an interchange of goods or commodities) and capitalism ( an economic …system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit..) . I wonder if you do.
One prioritizes profit .. the other goods
When capitalism functions well it acknowledges that it must provide quality goods to secure profit.. when it doesn’t it simply looks for less selective markets..

JanS: What is it you think Trump should say? The suspect allegedly violated state and federal laws and is in custody. So what? Do you think all suspects should get presidential commentary before their case is tried? How would you ever be able to find an impartial jury if the president condemns accused persons before trial? It wasn’t like they caught him standing over dead bodies with a smoking gun or bloody machete.
You are obviously trying to make a point that white males commit crimes too. Well, duh. However, if this is your point, then you need to look at race/crime statistics and re-state your argument. If you actually researched the subject beyond what the sheep herders tell you, I doubt you would have anything credible to say.

It is unfortunate that our conversation has disintegrated into such vile hatred of people who didn’t vote the same as you. I expect these kinds of communicative breakdowns are happening all over the country now as the false narratives of the anti-Trump movement builds in the mainstream media.
My wife and I have lived in our WS home for over fifteen years and I have had family in West Seattle for most of the last century. When my relatives placed the Statue of Liberty at Alki, I doubt they could have imagined the fundamental changes that would occur here–especially how easily people have been fooled into wanting to give up their liberty.
The CEO of Twitter has reported that tweet traffic patterns in the US are similar to the events that preceded the Arab Spring–Seattle exceeding it. This is probably wonderful news to some of you hoping for an overthrow of what you all believe to be the illegitimate results of the presidential election. If your dreams come to fruition, you will have a very different country than we have today. After the destruction is done and dead are buried, I very much doubt it would be the collective utopia you imagined. Good luck to you all.
