kris.morganMemberFollow-up to post from 6/11. Our dog was picked up by a Good Samaritan and taken to the vet to check for a microchip. She’s home, safe and sound.
In gratitude for all the Good People everywhere!

maplesyrupParticipantThat’s awesome. Was the thief there or was the dog just wandering?

kris.morganMemberIn reply to MapleSyrup, no the thief was not there. A man was seen taking the dog, and a woman brought her to the vet. Unfortunately, the vet was really busy so they didn’t get much info. Just told the returner that the dog had a chip and she said, “Great!” and left. I think it’s most likely that the man dumped her at some point, although I guess she could have escaped!
Thanks for all the well-wishing!

miwsParticipantThis is one of those cases where one wishes pets could talk, and tell what happened.
I wonder if the Vulcan Mind Meld would work? ;-)

AlkiMermaidParticipantCongrats on getting your pooch back! This is a great reminder to make sure everyone’s chip information is up to date on their companion animal. If you’ve moved or changed phone numbers, got a new vet, etc. it’s important to update your Avid account so anyone who recovers your animal can get in touch with you without delay.

JoBParticipantkris.morgan..
appearances are deceiving.. it is as possible that the man who picked her up was a nice man who brought her home.. and whose wife or girlfriend or relative or roommate or neighbor volunteered to take her to the vet when he was at work… good Samaritans come wrapped in some of the most unlikely packages…
I am glad you thought to microchip your girl and that someone thought to take her to a vet so that she could be returned…
and even more glad that you shared your story… so more people learn that microchips really do get stray dogs home faster… no matter how far they wander from home…
and thanks for reminding me to update my pet registry…
