SingularGirlMemberAnyone have a recommendation for a sewer cleaning company? We need someone to do an optical inspection on our line. Thanks.

AlkiRagdollParticipantI had a very expensive sewer line replacement this past fall. I started with SW, but found that they really ripped me off (their plumbers work on commission –which I didnt know). After the 1st excavation, I then went with ONeil. They can scope the line if that’s what you are seeking (they send a camera down to see the condition of the line). They can then “rotor root” it if you find that the roots have gotten in (as was the case with mine). Regardless of who you use, ask for a video copy of the line — I didnt know to ask that from SW for the portion of the line they did, but ONeil did it for me for the entire length.

SingularGirlMemberAlkiRagdoll,
Thanks so much for the information, it is very helpful. We are looking to have our line scoped. Great tip to ask for video, would have never thought of that!

anonymeParticipantSome friends of mine just had a sewer pipe issue, and imaging was part of the service. They used Puget Plumbing (Puget Sound Plumbing?) here in West Seattle. They said the service was great, and they recommend asking for Elliot.

AlkiRagdollParticipantMy sewer line was in bad shape — house is over 50 yrs old. Despite trying to clean, they could not clean the entire line. Rather than dig up the entire length, the used a new technology where the cleaned the line and then ran a liner the entire length. It was very expensive, but much cheaper than digging up the old and replacing. Be prepared for big costs, as we had such a dry summer that the veg roots really sent out runners…..
Lesson…. if you do not regularly roter root your line, you could have future troubles. I wish I had known… I could have bought a really nice new car for what I paid to fix the problem.

curbfeelerParticipantA couple of months after the side sewer has been cleared of roots, apply Root-X foaming root killer to the line. Four pounds ought to do for 75 ft. of line. I used to have a root-clogged line periodically but since applying Root-X every six months the side sewer has been clear for years now. I get it at Pollard Water in Redmond. http://www.pollardwater.com/
