I have forgotten the reason why school levies are never on the normal fall ballots. The news just made a big deal about McGinn’s potential $1m cost for a seawall ballot. It seems like the time may be ripe to get these school levies on the normal ballots and save some significant money. I am sure someone on here is in education. Enlighten me!

I will ask King County Elections the question. Meantime, this is not the only thing on the Feb. ballot – myriad other school districts have measures elsewhere in the county – there’s also the King County Library District vote, and the city of Renton has something. Full list:

Someone must have the inside scoop who is more closely involved with the school district? Why do levy ballots have to occur at their own special time of year?

Darn good question. More of our tax dollars not at work. What if the millions wasted on superfluous ballots were instead directed to the programs in continual shortfall? Wouldn’t that be effective government?
