SonomaParticipantI’m sure this has come up before, but I couldn’t find the discussion on the blog. My previous physician, who was wonderful, moved back East. So I need a new one, not necessarily in West Seattle. I do prefer a female physician. The challenge is finding someone who also takes Provider One (Washington State). But if you strongly recommend someone who is intelligent and easy to talk to, I can look up whether she is on the Provider One list.
Thanks!

BreezyParticipantI will strongly recommend Jennifer Leahy. She is at Minor & James. Intelligent, personable, and a good fit for me :) and I have a number of chronic and ongoing medical issues…

miwsParticipantSonoma, you might want to consider Dr. Lauren Renata Thronson at Harborview.
The only thing is, I can’t determine if she accepts Provider One. It’s not listed among the insurance accepted on the page of the link below, but maybe Provider One is hidden somehow in one of the other insurance companies. All that insurance stuff confuses me! ;-)
Anyway, Dr. Thronson is technically my Primary Provider, although I am a patient of the Student Provider Program at Harborview that she oversees. I’m on my third S. Provider in just under two years.
No, they don’t run away from me in disgust, or horror, they, as fourth year UW Med Students simply graduate.
Anyway, I’ve had several occasions to interact with Dr. T, including at least one, which was earlier this year, for a follow-up between appointments with S. Provider #2 that graduated, and until the new S. Providers came in.
On several occasions, Dr. T. has been the Attending Physician, on the particular evening of my appt, and on others she’s just been around, and popped in to say “Hi”, and see how I’m doing.
I would also actually recommend a Student Provider, but appts with them are on Tuesday evenings (5:30 and later).
All of my interactions with Dr. T. have been very positive, and she has taken great care of me, and has taken a great interest in my continuing care.

(Sorry this is such a long answer to a simple question) ;-)

SonomaParticipantThanks, Breezy and Mike! Neither of these doctors is in ProviderOne. So, I’ll see if anyone else has suggestions. Mike, I got a kick out of the image of doctors running away in horror!
The ProviderOne Web site isn’t the greatest. However, I would have to say that Washington’s own health insurance Web site was a cinch to use – and when I had a question and had to call them, they were nice, patient, and helpful.

JanSParticipantYou can use Provider One at Country Doctor Clinic at 19th and Republican. They have wonderful doctors there. I’ve been a patient there for 9 years. They have a lab there, so no separate trip for routine stuff, and a pharmacy. I see a male doc there, Dr Hal Moore. There are other physicians, some female.
The biggest drawback is the parking. It’s only street parking , and sometimes you have to scour the neighborhood to find a place.

KevinParticipantYou might want to try Dr. Jeffrey Brittin and his daughter Sachi. BOTH are MD’s who are practicing jointly in the Jefferson Square area, AND are currently accepting new patients!

Tell them Kevin sent you, although I doubt I will get a kickback :) It may get you in the door quicker :)
.
Another WSB sponsor! My wife and I have been with Dr. Brittin for a number of years, and both he and his daughter are GREAT!
.
PS – watch out for Dr. Jeff, as he LOVES to talk politics and movies :) His daughter Sachi is a bit more reserved, and will not discuss politics, but she will tell you about movies :)
.
Like father – like daughter.

trickycooljParticipantI’ve always had great experiences at the Polyclinic in Northgate. My dr wasn’t accepting new patients last time I visited but I have seen other attending physicians on her off days when I had more urgent needs and they have all been great! Perhaps Polyclinic takes your ins provider?
