To the real friendly family (yes…an entire family of 4 – Dad, Mom, kids) that thought it would be fun to throw snowballs (ice balls)at cars going up and down Morgan hill last night…

Please consider the air you breath (my air!) as a wasted effort to feed your brains…

i don’t know why so many people fail to understand how dangerous throwing snowballs at moving cars is…

unfortunately i suspect if these parents haven’t figured it out by now

    they never will

it would have been ironic if one of those cars had lost control and hit one of the snowballers. it’s all fun and games until someone loses a limb.

someone should explain to them how hard it is to control a moving vehicle while simultaneously crapping your pants.

redblack, when I read this thread earlier today, the same thought crossed my mind.

Either the car that was aimed at/hit, or if by the time it went out of control it had passed the throwers, another car behind the first going out of control from it’s driver’s reaction, would have hit the throwers.

    And guess what?

If the incident had made the news, there’s probably a 99& chance we’d be hearing of the throwers suing the driver.

I don’t understand it either. This happened to me in November. After spending 3.5 tense hours crawling through traffic to get from Lake Union to Delridge, some jacka$$ pegged me with a snowball. Didn’t see it coming at all and still have no idea of the direction it came from. I think my head just about hit the roof of my car I jumped so high. Really not funny.

I wonder if it was the same gang–bunch of kids and their mom–right up Morgan Hill…maybe 36th, 37th? November-right at the onset of the blizzard @ 3:30? I was doing my best to control the car and BAM! these idiots start smacking me with snowballs. Rude, dangerous and the parent is in on the “fun”?

Angelscrest – exactly the location and a bit later…When confronted – because I did turn around….they were completely taken aback that I didn’t think it was funny…the dad says…”It’s just snow dude…go on your way”…Anyway…

Moments over – but next time may not be so “funny” as pointed out above…

Halleluja !! I grew up in west Seattle throwing snowballs at cars. I was worried that kids had very little sense of adventure these days. Yes. I am grown up now and realize how dangerous it was. But thank God at least the mere thought of such a horrible, devious, delinquent winter activity is still alive. Too bad the cars are beer-can thin now a days.

Too bad the cars are beer-can thin now a days? I don’t get it, dirtgazer. The solidity of the car has nothing to do with the degree of alarm a driver will experience when confronted with anything unexpectedly hitting the window or windshield.

Isn’t it against the law to throw “anything” at a moving vehicle?

Yes. I agree. It would be very alarming to be surprised by something hitting your vehicle. I must say we always made it very clear to drivers back in the day of what was about to happen. All in good fun. My concern or comment referring to thin body panels was based on the fact that damaging the vehicle wasn’t an issue in the late sixties. Unless of course we caused the driver to wreck there car chasing us all over the neighborhood. Yes Betty. I can assure you. It is against the law. At least now !!

A couple years ago, maybe 2 or 3, the hubby was driving East on Roxbury and was pegged by a few snowballs thrown by some hiding kids on a hill above. Pretty much gave him a heart attack. Little did they know, their hiding spot was not very good. Husband took the back roads up the hill and came up behind them. They were too busy continuing to chuck snowballs and didn’t even notice as he approached. He reved the truck engine and got out and confronted them. Don’t worry, he would never hurt a kid for throwing snowballs…but I’m pretty sure some pants were soiled. Sounds like a natural consequence to me…I almost crap my pants, now you will crap yours. They of course denied it and scurried on their way. Maybe they thought twice the next time, maybe not. The thing for him was not only that it’s dangerous to throw things at moving cars, but he had also just recently come home from 15 months in afghanistan. These little $hit$ triggered some lovely war memories. Real funny, thanks :/ Basic logic tells you it’s not a smart thing to do. In fact, I don’t think it’s cool to throw anything at someone who is not a clear, willing participant. Glad hubby wasn’t driving up Morgan last night (we live close to there)…pretty sure he would not have taken “it’s just snow dude, move on your way” as the proper response.

Ignorance is bliss, must be nice to have been born without the part of the brain that is responsible for rational thought.

The parents are idiots plain and simple, Lead by an example is not a top priority for this clan huh ?

It was about 1965 and I was on Belvidere Ave SW in the snow with some great buddies (we were all good kids) and we threw a snowball at a passing car (not going that fast…that should have been our first clue) and he got out of his car and POINTED A GUN at us. Never threw a snowball again.
