ellenaterMemberUmmm, I want more discussion on this so…
I’m kinda disappointed about the responses around Blayne’s first outfit. I wouldn’t wear it but I thought it showed how creative he is! That particular challenge seems to be about playing with the materials. I am frequently disappointed by the judges distinction between fashion and costume. Isn’t is all costume, really, when you look at it in terms of identity, etc.? There seems to be a little fashion box and it sometimes sucks the creativity right out of it. I thought Stella should have been the first to go, really.
Also, regarding Blayne’s behavior, if you were being filmed, wouldn’t you also be kind of nervous? He seemed nervous and focused to me. It’s so cutthroat in there. You’d have to develop some sort of persona to survive. At least I would.
There are some really talented people this season and Blayne is no exception. It’s still a great show, but it does seem like PR is falling into the same droll land as Design Star. That show completely sucks now. I hope the judges will look past their own fashion mainstream, marketable ideals and that genuine creativity will reign again!

KenParticipantI watched about 4 min of the show. It is now blocked with parental controls due to hard core stupid.

MissKMemberI gotta be honest…his “garment” was a disaster. I found NO creativity or beauty in what he made. I also found that he is trying (or maybe he really is like this) to be Christian (winner of last season.) I hope that he can stay on the show but it looks like he has some stiff competition.

flipjackParticipantright on Ken.
July 18, 2008 at 8:45 pm #631723
JanSParticipantoh, you guys…guess they should have been designing power tools :-) lolol…
July 18, 2008 at 8:52 pm #631724
BonnieParticipantWell, at least he didn’t use a shower curtain or tablecloth!
July 18, 2008 at 8:54 pm #631725
WSMomParticipantI’m keeping my fingers crossed that his next effort will be more impressive to the judges and tv audience. I wanted to like his first design, but I just didn’t get it. He seems like a sweet guy, I hope this show will kick start his career in fashion!!
Flipjack & Ken: My husband didn’t like the show in the beginning either, but once last season got under way and it came down to just 6 designers, he changed his tune and became a fan (much to his and my surprise as he adamently HATES tv except Seinfeld and Mariners games). He says its because of Heidi Klum, but I think he likes the competition and the creativity and talent the contestants bring to their designs.

AnonymousInactiveI have no illusions while watching any reality show on T.V..
I realize it is a waste of brain cells and I am possibly becoming dumber and dumber as each minute ticks by.
But, some of these shows are just too fun! I really love getting caught up in a reality show and getting anxious to watch next week.
What’s life without a little, harmless fun?
(Not a PR fan…. Really into Flipping Out right now…. but I had to speak up for all of us reality show lovers!)

AnonymousInactiveI like flipping out too :)

Bikefor1MemberI would really love to see the ‘costumes’ in person since they were made with such unusual materials. Do you think they will ever display the clothes designed on the show? A traveling exhibit maybe? Proceeds to charity?
July 18, 2008 at 9:29 pm #631729
KeithMemberI can totally understand why some people wouldn’t be interested in Project Runway, but it’s hardly a “stupid” show. It’s fascinating to watch the designers deal with the challenges and watch the creative process in action. They’ve showcased a lot of amazing work and talent; it’s hardly just about made-for-TV personalities screaming/scheming at each other.

pappyMemberBlayne is giving Seattle a bad name. What’s up with being super tan? And girlicious? It will never be on par with fierce…its too early in the game for him to be acting so gay. It honestly takes away from his design. No more catch-phrases!!
July 18, 2008 at 10:12 pm #631731
MissKMemberI don’t think he is necessarily giving Seattle a bad name, but he isn’t projecting himself in a smart light. Blayne seems to be trying too hard to be the next Christian. (which I think there can only be one of) As for him wanting to be super tan….I don’t get it. Hello does he want to be the next George Hamilton?
I think the designs from past shows have been amazing. Especially when they are on tight time frames and the materials they are to use are not always the best. I would have to say this and the Amazing Race are my favorite reality shows.

JoBParticipanti really appreciated his creativity..
i hated the outfit..
and yes, you can be too tan.
still… he deserves our support… who knows what he can do with material:)
July 18, 2008 at 10:38 pm #631733
beachdrivegirlParticipantMy sister knows Blaynes brother and from what she said that is just how he is. He is not trying to be the next Christian. He is just being Blayne.

saneyMemberBlayne’s outfit was a nightmare. When he shows that he has some talent, I might be able to support him. It is too early to know for sure….but it is also too early to act so over the top. And cut it out with the catchphrases and tanning…
July 19, 2008 at 3:00 am #631735
villagegreenMemberCut the dude some slack. Contrary to what seems to be your belief, his job is not to represent for ‘Seattle’, his job is to win the competition. It’s too early to tell if he’s got the talent, but what’s with all the criticism. Who gives a crap if he frequents a tanning salon?
July 19, 2008 at 3:08 am #631736
barbMemberwhy exactly JoB does he deserve my support? Am I not allowed to support someone else because they aren’t from Seattle?
July 19, 2008 at 4:31 am #631737
ellenaterMemberTanning is addictive. Especially in a place where there is so little light. I used to tan and may again this next winter.
God, the challenge was absurd-in a creative way. I don’t think he had a good finish but liked his process-the way he played with materials. He seems like a super creative person. So he gets props here for that! Also, PR isn’t mindless…it’s fierce. Sorry, couldnt’ resist…
July 19, 2008 at 3:55 pm #631738
SueParticipantNewResident, I’m with you – I love reality TV because it’s an escape, even though some of it is beyond ridiculous. I don’t watch PR (I only have the $12 cable, so don’t get that channel, and miss all the trashy VH1 shows that really rotted my brain cells) but I find the whole genre embarrassingly fun. :)
July 19, 2008 at 7:34 pm #631739
MissKMemberIf you don’t mind watching it in 10 minute segments you can catch PR on You Tube. There are fans who download each episode. Just a thought…Although, I don’t want to encourage any brain rotting. ;-)

sohonyusaMemberStopped by Hotwire today during the parade and Blayne is back.
July 19, 2008 at 11:52 pm #631741
WSBKeymasterHe was working today and Lora says he’ll be there again Wednesday. Our parade-sidelines correspondent couldn’t get within a block of Hotwire for a photo op, unfortunately, so we’ll be checking in Wednesday (and hey! that’s the next viewing party night, too!) – TR

ellenaterMemberI didn’t think they let them back into the world until all was revealed. Maybe they’ll bring him back like they did Chris last season.
July 21, 2008 at 5:28 pm #631743
ZenguyParticipantI was a secret Project Runway watcher from season one, then I found out how many others watched too and now hold my head high.
I really enjoy watching the creativity, but the interaction of the people is what gets me. Did anyone see Santino doing his impression of Tim Gunn dating Andre, one of the contestants? Flipping hysterical!
NR, I have seen Flipping Out and can see why people like it, but just can’t handle seeing people treat others like dirt. I won’t watch Hell’s Kitchen either for the same reason.
