Wylie_snoopMemberCan anyone recommend a good residential electrician. We need to update the wiring in our house. I also am looking for a good ankle doctor between W. Seattle and South Lake Union – I sprained my ankle 2 1/2 months ago and it will not heal.

mellaw6565MemberMaybe you can find an electrician who will give your ankle electric stimulation for part of the same price! LOL

mellaw6565MemberSeriously, there are several good ankle doctors at Orthopedic Physician’s Assoc. – they also work on a lot of sports figures around town. Start with Dr. Mankey

SueParticipantI really like Dr. Eugene Toomey at Orthopedic Physican’s Associates on First Hill, 386-2600. There are 2 Dr. Toomey’s there, so you’d need to use the first name too. Only caveat is if you have Premera, they are no longer covered (they’re part of Proliance Surgeons which had a contract dispute with Premera). I have also heard very good things about Dr. Mankey (who Mellaw posted about), but have not seen him personally.

PDieterParticipantMark Kesler is a fantastic electrician who I actually enjoy referring. I’ve worked with him for over 5 years.

cohm3451MemberOrthopedic Specialists of Seattle are great. They handle all kinds of ankle injuries. You can find more information about them at http://www.orthopedicspecialistsofseattle.com

anonymeParticipantHave you tried osteopathy and/or acupuncture? Orthopedic surgeons are great at fixing bones, but often it’s the injuries to soft tissue that won’t heal. Conventional medicine doesn’t offer a lot of assistance in that area, aside from recommendations for rest, heat/cold, and pain killers. Sorry I don’t have any specific docs for reference; my D.O. is fantastic but unfortunately he’s not accepting new patients.

cjboffoliParticipantI second the recommendation for Martin Mankey, MD. He’s not in West Seattle but the man is a wizard of an orthopedic surgeon.
He treated me a few years ago after I had a very serious accident at elevation on Rainier. Prior to my first consult with him I had been told I might never walk normally again. But these days you’d never know anything happened.
Part of his treatment did have to do with non-bone, soft-tissue related injuries as I tore just about every ligament in my ankle. During one of the operations he was able to tack everything back into place.

bailecyclistParticipantFor your ankle, I recommend Dr. Michael Vickers without reservation. He has been a wonderful answer to foot and ankle problems for several family members, including me. His office is near the Alaska Junction, very handy. He lays out the analysis, provides options, offers common sense appraisals. We love him.
