I was at McLendon’s yesterday and the cashier said that they are all getting their hours slashed. Their business has been very slow lately. She worries that the store will be closing! This is an excellent hardware store with very knowledgable and helpful staff. The prices are competitive with any of the big box stores and I know because I shop there all the time. Go shop there!!

I hope it stays open. My BF would be devastated to lose his favorite hardware store. I have always found McLendon’s to be helpful, well stocked and clean. The only gripe I have is the parking lot, which is a truly frightening experience.

Nooooooooo! I love that store! They are always helpful and knowledgeable and it’s rare that they don’t have what I need.

I only go to Home Depot if McLendon’s doesn’t have what I’m looking for.

I will check with their corporate next week but I have never been in that store at a time that was anything but bustling – cannot imagine it would close. Certainly folks would have had a hard time getting there during the storm, and West Seattleites might have gone to TrueValue or Home Depot instead. The chain is locally based, btw:

Yeah, I sure hope that it is just someone fretting unnecessarily.

My house is the house that McLendon’s built – very honest and experienced McLendon’s guidance and the store’s really good-value materials. They’ve definitely earned this customer’s loyalty. Have I mentioned I bought my tankless, gas water heater from them at their Anniversary Sale (25% off, peeps!). It was one of the best home improvement deals of the century. Love ’em for that!

    Hope they are ok.
