hooper1961Member30+ years of driving and taking the time to practice in snow conditions. i have never gotten stuck maybe its because of practice and being prepared.

Genesee HillParticipantTire chains! Never stuck. This is not rocket science.

AlParticipantHooper, it’s time to stop, it’s getting silly.
“yes i was i spent hours in traffic due to people illegally stopping/standing in the roadway”
Really? People were STANDING in the roadway? Just standing there blocking traffic in freezing weather to annoy/strand drivers?
“I agree the bus riders who did everything right were unfairly delayed. The people who caused the delay should be cited accordingly.”
The delay was caused by w.e.a.t.h.e.r. No one can stop the weather, especially when a storm that was predicted to not hit until 6:00 pm hit en force around 2:00 pm. There’s no PERSONS to blame, just a bad SITUATION. Ergo, be calm, help others, have patience and move on.

tanyar23ParticipantThis stupid posting is the equivalent of beating a freaking dead horse. I refuse to look at it anymore. Yesterday’s news. Yawn.

JoBParticipantgoing through life with the attitude that someone else should pay for your inconvenience will only cause bitterness.
buck up.

hooper1961Memberi agree the weather is what it is. but driving a vehicle that is not equipped or being an inexperienced driver is like diving off a diving board and not knowing how to swim and then expecting someone to bail you out but instead make it so no one else can go swimming.
the fact is the inexperienced drivers driving vehicles with poor tires are very culpable and should be cited accordingly. how many citations do you think spd handed out? i bet none yet as soon as the weather gets nice they will be out in force ticketing people for driving at reasonable speeds based on street geometrics and design; not the city fantasy speed limits that are baseless on many many streets.
i would be a lot less annoyed if there was some equity and fairness in the citations given. no citation for causing delay to hundreds and in some locations thousands and thousands of motorists yet ticketed for driving 40 mph when the 85% speed is 45 that is the demonstrated safest travel speed based on engineering studies.

austinMemberHooper you’ve got a bizarre sense of humor, because at this point I can’t think that you’re trying to do anything other than make a joke out of the speed limit thing. It’s like a nonsensical Stephen Colbert, for roads.

redblackParticipantat the risk of trying to make that dead horse giddy-up, i have to say that i have 20 years of driving experience in all conditions, too.
at one point i got stuck on the little 3% grade on aloha street after i left aurora avenue. patience and experience kept me moving.
but physics and rush hour are undeniable, and eventually even the best drivers can’t get around. and there are times when even chains can’t help you.
i didn’t even make it home monday night, but i’m not looking to blame anyone. ice happens.
and with that, i, too will bid this thread a fond adieu.
