I had a similar situation: had been out of work for several months, then got a job and needed to start right away. I had success finding childcare on short notice with Kindercare in Burien. It is out of the way for us, but they had an infant opening when all the West Seattle centers had long, long wait lists. We liked it so much we have kept our daughter there despite the commute.
