    I know there were some people in the past who were missing Garlic Jim’s gluten free pizza, now that they closed. I saw some of it in the frozen case at PCC last week for anyone interested. I’m sure it’s not the same as fresh, but a new alternative.

    Since you brought it up, I noticed Olympia Pizza on Delridge is now offering gluten-free items as well, according to an exterior reader board.

    Luciano’s next to the Admiral Theatre also offers gluten-free — I haven’t tried it yet but love their pizza otherwise…. the gal mentioned there is an extra charge for it, but I can’t recall how much.

    Luciano’s is great, even better when you add in the GF beer from the Cask!

    I’ll have to try Luciano’s. Does anyone know where they get their crust. Garlic Jim’s was convenient, so I’ll be a bit sad it won’t be returning – though the frozen version tastes just the same and is cheaper (less variety though)

    Ooooh! Thanks! I am very excited to try Lucianos! There are some decent GF pizza shells at PCC too. AND, if you haven’t tried it yet, Maninis is now at the Sunday market. They make incredible fresh pasta. The stuff is like crack though, so consider yourself warned. They said the pasta would also be for sale at PCC. And no, I do not work for them. :)

    ellenater, the Maninis is now at PCC, just left of the front door with the fresh pasta. OMG, is that stuff good. Yes, it costs a lot, but I have disliked every gluten free pasta I’ve had *except* for this one. Tastes so similar to wheat. I was very impressed. Buying it at the market though lets you have some great conversations about the product, hints for cooking, etc.

    Thanks! I was looking in the frozen area. Yes, the Maninis people are so great and more and more restaurants are picking them up. Their gingerbread men were awesome! I do love talking to those guys. And I agree about the other yucky pasta.

    I thought I would follow up to give the OP some info. I review Gluten Free food in Seattle so I’m always looking for more places to try.

    Yesterday I tried Luciano’s. They were friendly and fast. The pizza was good – no off flavors in the crust. When I used to order from Garlic Jims I would always do so online using specials and usually got a large for about 16 dollars. At Luciano’s they charge 5 dollars extra for their Gluten Free crust. My medium Hawaiian pizza came out to 22 dollars before tip. This is a bit spendy for me. You can get the frozen Garlic Jim’s at Metro Market for about 13 if I remember right.

    I also heard that someone saw a gluten free sign on Talarico’s door. I’m going to follow up on that.

    I was trying the gluten free from Garlic Jim’s but I always had to order it without cheese as I was avoiding dairy as well (everything seems to make my tummy hurt, bit I’m looking into that). I didn’t really care for their crust as I found it too hard and cardboardy. I tried the gluten free french bread pizza crusts at Great Harvest and found them to be excellent. I tried them without cheese a few times and then discovered Goat Milk Mozzarella at PCC and West Seattle Thriftway. Now when it’s pizza time, I’m able to make myself a gluten free and dairy free pizza that is almost impossible to tell from a pizza made with standard ingredients.

    However, I just discovered that I do not have celiac disease (like my mom does) so I thought I’d pass this tip on to the rest of you before I forget since I probably won’t be making pizzas this way anymore.

    Val, I wanted to mention that even though you may not have celiac disease (which is good news!) you may still have a sensitivity to wheat, even if you don’t obviously react to it. I do energy healing work, and a great many of my clients need wheat allergy corrections, or need to avoid it (or significantly reduce it). Plus, from the anti-inflammatory diet class (tqidiet.com) that I took, wheat is definitely an inflammatory food. So if you’ve been avoiding wheat for a while, you might want to reintroduce it slowly and not eat it at every meal.

    Sue- not a problem. I’m still in avoidance mode (of wheat, dairy, coffee, chocolate and high fructose corn syrup as well as coconut). I feel as if I’m sensitive to everything on that list except coconut. Coconut is just gross.

    I am in the EXACT same boat. My ND recently put my on digestive enzymes and HCL (replicates stomach acid). They are helping immensely. I can tell this is going to be a long and slow road though. Sometimes antibiotics and stress can lead to these issues. I know they did for me. I also avoid as much processed food as possible. Still learning…
