Direct Support Professional starting at $17.00/hr and $500 bonus after 90 days

United Friends Group Homes is currently hiring several caring individuals to work as part of a Direct Support Professional team for 8 adults with intellectual disabilities in a group home setting. Currently hiring 2-3 Full Time afternoon/evening positions in West Seattle. Typical shifts will have you working with 3-4 other staff to support the 8 residents.

All shifts require some weekend work (Sunday hours are a requirement on all shifts, Saturday is also required for some of the open shifts).

Vital duties usually include facilitating integration of the residents into the community (This duty is currently on hold for the most part due to COVID-19 but will be starting up again soon), assisting residents to be as independent as possible, cleaning, cooking, instruction, documentation, transportation of residents, assisting with medication, providing first aid when needed, assisting adults with personal hygiene (including bathing, dressing, lavatory needs for ALL genders) and providing supportive listening.

No certification is necessary at hire as we can train the right candidates; however, a currently valid NA-C or HCA (Home Care Aide) Certification is preferred as it significantly shortens the training period and allows you more freedom in arranging resident outings and other social activities.

All necessary training is PAID.

Absolutely necessary are the following prerequisites:

At least 18 years old High School diploma or GED

Ability to read/write/speak in English (the language of the residents)

Ability to attend mandatory training sessions as needed (these are typically during weekdays ranging in time from 8am-5pm).

Ability to work a variety of shifts (INCLUDING weekends) since we are staffed 24 hrs/day and have multiple openings. CURRENTLY HIRING FOR WEST SEATTLE LOCATION for multiple positions; all open positions REQUIRE working some hours on Sunday.

Prospective employees must pass fingerprint-based criminal background check. A valid WA state Driver License (or ability to get one within 30 days of hire) and a good driving record are necessary for transporting residents. The currently available positions may require occasional transporting.
