I was at one of the participating restaurants last night and it was great! everyone was in such good spirits and for such a great cause. I’m interested in hearing from others who were in attendance.

My place participated in it and definitely saw a surge yesterday.

Considering I have a more personal attachment for this event, it was a great success.

I went to the Mission for dinner and Pyrmaid for lunch for double the participation! All places were not only full (including black bird next door to mission) but everyone was in GREAT spirits!! This was my second year participiting and it sure has been great to see how successful this event really is…

Trick – Sounds like you are a restaurant owner/manager?

Want to help Eric, BDG and I get our martini/wine bar going?

At the very least, meet with us and discuss the possibility?

    Sure,

like I said before I’m pretty seasoned in the business and would help anyone here that needed it.

That is really, really great! Maybe I can just come by your place of business sometime. Please email me info when you have time. BDG, if you’re interested, call or text me! Thanks, Trick! mak31019@yahoo.com

on a different note… I am a chef and was thinking about an idea. Ever heard of Skillet? It’s a mobile kitchen built in an old airstream. It goes between a few locations but not west seattle. I want to give west seattle a gourmet food truck.

I went to Mission with a girlfriend for dinner last night, then walked back to the Alaska Junction. Every restaurant we passed on the way back that was participating was really crowded (about 7:30) so I think this event must have been a huge success. It was nice to see so many more restaurants involved this year compared to last.

spookbrian – That is an awesome idea!!! My bro is a chef in Portland, but before that he worked for a catering company that catered on movie sets in Cali. He loved it. Working from that truck! (Well, maybe all the beautiful starlets didn’t hurt much either!)

NR, we did the dog walking by the for lease building last night. The interior looks like it will need a lot of work, but what a great space. The brick exterior is amazing. Did you notice it has a semi-outside patio area? And does the basement come with the lease? So many possibilities. I wish I was healthy.

On a side note about cigars. I love them but haven’t had one for over 10 years, since I quit smoking cigarettes. I’ve been afraid I would relapse on the cigs and I don’t want to do that. Do you know of others in this situation who have been able to have an occasional cigar?

By others, do you mean people that used to smoke cigarettes and now just smoke occasional cigars? Or do you mean people that have opened cigar bars?

    People who used to smoke.

I doubt it JT There is no inhaling of smoke. But I’m not sure about the nic levels. I quit too and smoke lots of ‘other’ stuff which never makes me jones.

Not really. Most people I know that smoke cigars are not (and never where) cigarette smokers.

I have smoked both, so I can say that smoking cigars is completely different than smoking cigarettes. (of course, you probably know that)

However, I would probably be leery of smoking a cigar if I had just quit smoking cigarettes. I think 10 years, though, is a great success!

I, somehow, always get involved in taking a thread, and completely derailing it from the original topic.

    I apologize.

I get you, spook. I’m specifically worried about the taste and smell of tobacco. I know you don’t inhale, but I still deal with the psychological addiction to this day. You can often find me following smokers:)

I smoked cigarettes for 22 years before I quit.

JT, I am glad you liked the sapce. I was excited because I shared the idea with my guy last night and he was asking lots of questions about the plans etc… he brought up thatwe ought to visit a few different wine/martini bars around Seattle and figure out what we like and what we dont…he also was concerned about parking though.

But yes the deck is amazing!!

I loved the space! I really want to be in on it. Maybe I can offer emotional support and beverages while you’re fixing it:) Parking may not be a problem. It’s a smaller space so it’s not like a 100 cars would be there. And it’s really a short walk to the wide open stretch of beach drive.

Spookbrian, in my younger days, me and the roomate would lay out on the deck in lawn chairs. Cold beer in one hand, cigar in the other. Talk about how we were going to run the world:) OK, talk about girls, I mean. (He was a boy, but we both liked girls) It was pure bliss. I wouldn’t trade those days.

I’m all for checking out some other already established places. BDG – Just say when!

Also, not sure if you saw, but Trick (who is very much already in that industry) just offered his help in talking with us!

spookbrian – Have you ever tried a cigar?
