    Obituary:

Daniel D. died by violence last Thursday, March 29, 2012, in his West Seattle neighborhood. He was taken from home in broad daylight and found shortly afterwards in a shed with the perpetrator over him. The perpetrator was taken into custody, transported to an undisclosed location and released.

Although he was only 20, Daniel led a long and eventful life for his kind, and outlived three wives (Dixie, Daisy, and Dinah) and 10 children. He is survived by his parents.

Daniel enjoyed trips to the beach, spending time in the garden and dozing in the sunshine. He had a very gentle nature and a quiet voice and was quite handsome. He could be stand-offish at times but was very protective of his family.

His hobbies including swimming, camping at the beach, eating tasty things from the garden, and mating. Although he tried to get along with all creatures, he didn’t like cats or squirrels, and especially hated opossums, raccoons, and hawks.

Daniel was very much loved and pampered through all his years and brought great joy to his loved ones. He was laid to rest the day he was found and will be greatly missed.

Sorry for your loss. Good to know it wasn’t Walt Flanagan’s dog.

    Twenty years for a duck!

Imagine how much love and care his parents* must have lavished upon him.

And they treat people even better.

20 is a long life for a duck. He was very lucky.

What a dapper duck he was. Duckies indeed rule. His murderer is quite the ugly one, isn’t he? Is that a possum? We demand justice for Daniel Duck!

Why are the opossums in traps? Whose traps are they?

Daniel’s parents live-trapped and relocated three opposums from their yard. I presume the trap belongs to the parents.

Personally I love ducks. Duck hunting and a tasty duck meal. jkjk Sorry to hear that man. But I am guilty of consuming a great many of his relatives.

I did not realize that opposums ate ducks. So sad to hear of Daniel’s death.

Well, Daniel’s parents should probably stay anonymous. I’m 99% sure it’s illegal to relocate the opposums, so they’re admitting to a crime. It’s been discussed on the forum several times. For instance, you can live trap a raccoon, but it’s illegal for private citizens to relocate it or kill it (so why try to trap it in the first place?). I suspect it is the same for opposums. He was a beautiful duck, and 20 years is impressive, but I don’t think this is the right way to deal with the loss.
