I was curious if anyone new anything about the old Chuck & Sally’s Tavern on California? I’ve got to imagine it is full of some relics from the past. I would love to get my hands on them for the Heartland Cafe.

jay…I believe that Chuck and Sally’s is owned by a real estate agent in WS….here’s a link to his website. You can go straight to the horse’s mouth :)

That’s the guy, Jan, thanks, I couldn’t remember his last name.

jayman, there’s not a whole lot in there of any real value…mostly just posters. They might have some older style tap handles, but it was never really “decorated” much.

If you are looking for older funky stuff to furnish your place with, Earthwise in the SODO neighborhood, or Second Use near the dump in South Park would probably be more fruitful places to go than Chuck and Sally’s…

Thanks all of you for your suggestions. I have been using both Earthwise and Second Use in the renovation of the old Benbow space. They are truly a great resource for what we have needed to create an American Gothic style of decor.

I will try and contact Jim to see if he has anything to offer and what his intentions might be with the old Chuck Sally’s.

Don’t forget about the ReStore in Ballard! The benefit to using them is that they are a non-profit. They also have great relics from the past. Check them out.

Jayman, he’ll tell you a story. Truth be told, the only thing anyone could probably do with that building is tear it down. Before it closed, there were serious rot problems in the floors and it had an active (and quite impressive) termite issue. Now, after sitting unattended for a couple years, I can’t imagine it’s gotten any better.
