zaychikMemberThere’s a notice which is half destroyed (due to the rain) saying something about a cell phone tower at 3705 California Ave SW ?
Does anyone know anything about this ?
I live near by and I would prefer if my family didn’t live so close to one.

miwsParticipantHi zaychik,
Here’s a link to the DPD website regarding the cell tower at that address: http://web1.seattle.gov/DPD/permitstatus/Project.aspx?id=3010162

vincentMemberso would you say that you would not want it in your backyard?
I heard that there was a name for this.

KBearParticipantI wish the NIMBYs would all go somewhere else.

KenParticipantA paygo cell and broadband operation. Seems to be expanding in this area. Amazingly clear business model for a cell phone reseller/carrier.

swimcatMemberThis is just a proposal for a small antenna array on top of an apartment building. They are not erecting a huge tower or monopole. You probably won’t even notice it once the construction is complete- you can see these types of installations all over the place if you start looking at condo/apt/government buildings and watertanks.

WSBKeymasterIf you see a land-use notice and want to look it up online, just be sure you have the address, and use this (works for any address in Seattle):

slinkydinkMemberDoes anyone know how long it will take for the proposal to go through?
September 11, 2009 at 3:44 pm #676721
swimcatMemberIt appears the public notice period is over, according to the DPD website. Maybe I’m not reading it correctly though…

slinkydinkMemberYes, it appears that the comment period is over but I can’t tell if the proposal was approved.
I’m guessing it probably will be approved, weird though since this building has a rooftop deck, but anyway how long will it take?

KenParticipantThe camouflage paint job usually takes longer than the actual antenna install once the permitting process runs its course.

slinkydinkMemberYeah, it’s not going to be fun having the construction right over my head but I’m actually wondering how long it takes to get a permit like this approved. Will it be a matter of months or weeks?
I want to know how long I have before they start baking my brain with radiation.

slinkydinkMemberAnd also how can they approve a cell antennae on a rooftop where there is rooftop access? We have a deck up there.

vincentMemberRadiation!! get out the tinfoil hats! watch out for chemtrails as well.

swimcatMemberThis install won’t bake your brain cells unless you stick your head right in front of it. I think you’ll be okay unless you do something really stupid.

slinkydinkMemberlol Actually according to the World Health Organization and the American Cancer Society, cell phone antennae *probably* don’t cause cancer but the technology is relatively new and not enough time has passed to gather full information on health effects…
