flowerpetalMemberTheir baaaaaaaaaaaack! And they brought friends with them. Two smaller (!) prop planes doing acrobatics over the lake right now; sort “plane ballet!” And circling over the southend is a large four engine prop with a gold nose. What’s that? Where’s the Blues?

CMParticipantflowerpetal, the two smaller planes were an A-10 and a P-51 Mustang, both ground support “tank-busters” from different eras.
The big plane is Fat Albert, the Blue Angels support vehicle. It’s a C-130.
I work right across East Marginal from Boeing field so I get free airshows all week. I have keys to the roof too, so everybody’s nice to me this week!

i was lucky enough to be in madison park this afternoon and got quite a show.
to think you can fly a plane that fast and that close.. amazing skill.

AnonymousInactiveMy girl and I watched from the front porch and were amazed to see that they do all those shapes in the sky and they maintain formation while flying, as JoB said, fast and close.
The best part for my daughter? When the planes flew right over our heads and all the loud noise!
It’s stunning. I’m sure it’s noted somewhere here already, but, do they do this through the weekend? We are ready for more!

The rule on this forum is you are not allowed to personally attack an individual. I saw your post as humorous and light-hearted. The fact that you received personally degrading posts in response, seems to go against the rules.
I’m starting to wonder if they apply to everyone.

barmargiaMemberelgrego, I also did not believe that you were gay bashing, and I also agreed with your post for people to harden up it’s almost like people have never seen planes before. NR, I also agree with you, it doesn’t always seem like the rules apply to everyone.

angelescrestParticipantI like peace and serenity–though that may not be reality always. Those planes are reminders of war for me, and they scare me. I know now that I’m not the only one. I guess if they make us stop and think about those who are being strafed on a daily basis…well, ok. I may be a tulip, but I do get all jittery.

barmargiaMemberthat’s fine that you feel that way, but I am reminded of war because I’m in the military, and I have family and friends in the warzone, or going to the warzone, as well as the possibility of myself going to the warzone. These planes make me think of cool flying tricks and summers, that’s it, nothing more.

yes.. i know what the planes are. it might surprise you to hear i actually rode in one once. (not these planes.. but the 80s version) lost my cookies big time.. and he was taking it easy on me:)
I enjoy the show they put on…
i don’t want to think of them overhead for any reason other than entertainment.
i don’t think anyone does.

WSBKeymasterYes, I agree with MaryT that was a personal attack, and have deleted.
I am disappointed to see that people are going off the rails again.
We will delete posts that violate what I repeat are our very few rules – because, yes, WSB is a cut above the P-I, and Slog, and other “anything goes” forums and comment threads currently out there, and I intend it to stay that way. Discussion, critique, attack ideas. Not people.
But we do continue to need help in reporting violations.

and i really am quite sure that you are charming..
My favorite nephew is US Navy… with his dad this week in Egypt for R&R…
I suspect he would have said worse… and i would have done more than chide him:)

WesCADddle – that makes me sad to think that only Repubs are considered “proud Americans”. What does that say about our Democratic nominee (at the least)?
Blue Angels are awesome! After 3 days of watching their unbelievable feats, we are anxiously awaiting the last show!

JoBParticipantwhat is sad is that only republicans consider themselves the only proud Americans.
trust me… democrats are not the least bit shy about being proud of America.. or things America.. or our armed forces… or our products… or….
what we are not proud of is the war our President sold to America on false pretenses, our news media which has chosen not to inform citizens truthfully, our military and CIA engaging in torture, the suspension of constitutional rights, etc…
We can be proud to be American without being proud of what is currently being done in our name.
i watched the blue angels land yesterday as i crossed the bridge… breathtaking!
and i am more than proud of the kids who choose to serve in the armed forces for us. Those particular kinds of service jobs (including firemen and policemen) take guts… and commitment.
I just wish there were more ways for our kids to serve that didn’t put them in harms way. I fear for their safety.
