Seattle is no longer the quiet little town so many people want it to remind. The population is growing, jobs are being created and people need a place to live. The single family zoning is a reality of the past. For me, the biggest concern is so many new apartments and houses and townhouses are not affordable to so many people. The city code says if you are building luxury apartments or condos, you have to have affordable units or pay into a fund for affordable housing. But I have not seen evidence of this affordable housing being built. I have tried finding any documents from the city how much money is in the fund and where the housing is being built with no luck.

All the city neighborhoods are established. Meaning unless a house (or small business) is torn down there’s no space for denser housing. Unless the city condemns and kicks someone out it’ll be hard to build-unless they build in a green space. Tricknology. Developers have always been able to do things individuals can’t. There really are one set of rules for individuals and a set of rules(wink wink) for developers.

    Thanks for the link.

Our region is adding lots of jobs. So I’m generally in favor of adding extra housing. The only practical way to add more housing is increase density in urban areas or build more out in Enumclaw and other exurbs. Of the two, I prefer increased density in urban areas. But I recognize this will be difficult for some folks who prefer less dense housing. Times are changing…

    Hi friends,

A developer is building something on my block that I was sure wasn’t permissible, but after doing research I found out that it is (kinda).

I just want to share what I’ve learned and hopefully make it less shocking and unpleasant for others when it happens to them.

    Take care,
    Matt

Michael Waldo makes an excellent point. The same conservatives who, at this very moment, are attempting to destroy Roe v. Wade have now perversely co-opted the pro-choice slogan ‘My Body, My Choice’. While we can’t really conflate the two issues, it is highly suspicious that a classic feminist slogan is being used to write over herstory by anti-choice, anti-vax factions.

Good friend is an ER nurse at Swedish. Takes ALL her will not to abandon patients. Which ones?? The anti vaxer/maskers who end up in emergency. EVERY SINGLE ONE asks for the vaccine or any other experimental drug out there. When she tells them they’re TOO LATE to get the vaccine they moan “shoulda got it” To quote whoever said it: YOU CAN’T FIX STUPID

What about MY freedom not to get Covid from the idiots who are against vaccines and masking? You don’t wear a mask only to protect your self but those around you. Thats why it is called public health. The pandemic rages on because of people not getting the vax or wearing masks. It is simply science.Do you know any one with polio? No you don’t because we ended polio in most of the world through vaccines. Do you know anyone with small pox? No you don’t because vaccines eliminated small pox from the earth. Also weird that a lot of the same people who say “my body, my choice” are against a womens right to chose.

Ours has not been picked up either; no recycle, yard waste or garbage was picked up. Was all supposed to be picked up yesterday. Bins are overflowing on our surrounding streets and crows are starting to do their work. I reported missed collection to SPU, but I agree, it would be great to have some communication from them.

If you indoctrinated your child to believe that wearing pants was unnecessary and wrong, he’d most likely comment negatively on the kids in his school photo wearing pants. You need to consider that your 4 year old’s “social emotional learning” may be negatively affected more by your anti-mask obsession than by actually wearing a mask. At the age your kids are, they most likely won’t even remember much about the pandemic or masks when they are older unless you make sure they do.

Oh my, I haven’t checked back on my post and didn’t receive any email notifications so I’ll have to check my settings.
Thank you all for taking the some of your time to help out. 😭 ( Crying emoji.) I had spoken to him about the key, he said a locksmith would make one for about $200, about right. However I mentioned the dealership also replaces them using the cars VIN. The night I went to take him a blanket was too dark, was hard to see the dash and the one located on the side of the door.

I mentioned I don’t have a working vehicle it broke down so haven’t been able to go around. I worry about MJ having food, she’s always trembling and probably needs a good bath. I wanted to suggest him going to day shelter to get cleaned up as someo will allow a pet or I’ll happily watch her.I wish I could help him out more but I’m currently unemployed and not that great, he knows. I care and so many people out there too. One person at a time, helping him wrap those blankets around him is an action of human connection and everyone needs that.

If you mention the lady who told him about feeding MJ food and gave him a blanket he’ll know. I’ll check back and post if I can see him though the snow is getting fluffier right now.

I completely agree with everything the original poster detailed about Molly Kemper and Scott Monroe! Our experience mirrored theirs almost exactly. Following is our review of Molly that we posted on Zillow. Both Scott and Molly continue to touch base with us periodically about our remodel plans and the home values in the surrounding area. Such a great, dynamic duo. You really can’t go wrong!

Molly was our realtor for our home-buying journey and we couldn’t be happier that we chose her as our agent. We have nothing but positive things to say about her both as an agent helping us in our search as well as our representative in the buying process.

Supportive – Molly was incredibly supportive along the whole journey. She was always available and answered all of our questions (there were A LOT) and gave us very practical advice whenever we needed it. She never hesitated to give her honest opinion (even if it wasn’t necessarily what we wanted to hear at the time), which was really helpful in keeping us focused on our dream home. She showed us every house we asked to see, and never tried to “sell” us a house. She walked a finessed line between guiding us and letting us come to our own conclusions.

Attention to detail – Molly’s attention to detail was incredible. She really went out of her way to provide us with detailed to-do lists and itemized checklists. Her organizational skills were fantastic and made the whole home-searching and home-buying process much calmer and straightforward.

Follow-Through – Molly worked very hard to make sure our questions were answered in a timely manner. She checked in on us repeatedly throughout the process and provided a very calming and grounding support system. When we were finally in contract on a home, she was there every step of the way to make sure we understood what was happening, and had a thorough knowledge of all of the documents and processes necessary to make the sale successful. She was ALWAYS available to answer questions.

Positive attitude – Our home-buying experience was a 3-year journey and Molly was incredibly positive and encouraging throughout the entire process. We had a long list of non-negotiables and there were times when we really felt we were going to have to settle for something less than our dream home. We were sometimes discouraged and disappointed, and Molly knew when to give us space and was always there with positivity and encouragement when we were ready to jump back in. We always felt like we were her number one priority throughout this entire process.

Knowledgeable – She knows her stuff! She’s got fantastic knowledge of West Seattle and surrounding areas. She’s also incredibly savvy with the actual purchasing process and made us feel entirely comfortable with what otherwise is a pretty daunting experience.

Go with Molly, you won’t regret it!
