    Muse,

West Seattle is in multiple areas of airspace restrictions, especially Boeing Field, less than 5 miles away. We are literally in their traffic pattern. Within this area, there is a significant amount of low level traffic in addition to air ambulance flights into Harborview Trauma Center’s helipad. It’s not just a orivacy issue. It’s a serious safety issue.

    Per the FAA:
For flight near airports in controlled airspace, drone operators must receive an airspace authorization prior to operation. Airspace authorizations come with altitude limitations and may include other operational provisions. Controlled airspace and other flying restrictions can be found on our B4UFLY app.

For a regulatory information, you can start here…

    https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_fliers/where_can_i_fly/airspace_restrictions/flying_near_airports/

    Thanks for your concern.

I’m with Buttercup. I never watch these things, as they’re just a bunch of posturing BS. But the few snippets I saw this morning were shocking. Biden sounded a bit more coherent than usual, but Trump should have been muzzled and hit with a tranquilizer dart. If I had the means, I’d be leaving not just Seattle, but the USA.

So sad that people are laughing at the US from all over the world. That was disgraceful. Next time they should have switched to shutoff the microphone of the person whose turn not to talk.

I lost an earring in or around the Metropolitan market last week. It is crescent shape, silver, gold and with three small diamonds down the spine. Much sentimental value.

The debate tonight will be on 6 different broadcast channels in English (4-1, 5-1, 7-1, 9-1, 13-1, 22-2) and one in Spanish (51-1). If you don’t want to/can’t stream it you can watch it for free and should be able to get at least one of these channels wherever you are in West Seattle.

Show your support for #Black Lives Matter! The “Respect” quilt project: allies at work
The “Respect” quilt is a result of Black and white creators working together to honor Black women’s beauty, history, and resilience.
The first one, underway, is being created by a former teacher, a white woman, for a former student of hers, a Black woman in South Bend, Indiana. When in her class at age 15, the young woman wrote and illustrated a short story, “Overcoming Adversity,” which stayed in the mind of her teacher all these years. (Discussions are afoot about revising it and publishing it with Honey Girl Books and Gifts LLC.)
The “Respect” quilt features African fabrics (waxes and Ankara cottons), Afrocentric fabrics, such as Harlem Toile de Jouy designed by Sheila Bridges and the striking AphroChic silhouettes (both in Brooklyn, NY), and other fabrics purchased from African-American business women across the USA, including Our Fabric Stash in the Pike Place Market (Seattle). It is the intention to celebrate and honor Black womanhood that we all share.
The quilts are pieced together in blocks with symbolic messages about the joys and pains of life; each has two pockets on the front (one flannel shirt and one Levi’s jeans) and one on the back made of Levi’s jeans with patches on it. The three patches shout out our political message: “Respect existence or expect resistance”; “Malcolm X”, and “One Love” (from a Bob Marley song). These quilts are a message of sisterly love, a reminder of the work to be done, and a call for unity among people.

The first Respect Quilts (Queen size) are in progress, due on or before October 15, 2020. Check our website for more photos! https://www.honeygirlbooks.com/

Orders are accepted now for Respect quilts no. 3 and beyond. Can be used as a wall-hanging or bed cover. Two sizes: Queen size or Small (Love Seat / Couch Throw). Queen size: $750; Small: $500. They are for a fund-raiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of St Joseph County, IN & King County, WA. For every “Respect” quilt sold, 50% of proceeds will be donated. 1 pCi/l is still the lowest zone. (2 pCi/l is the zone 3 cutoff). Pretty minimal, but if that’s a concern, a simple fan would probably be fine if your basement is really sealed well.

Yep, checked the charts and we’re in the middle of the three categories. Not the highest, not the lowest. Having a family member sleep and work in the basement and the radon level is a little over 1 which is below the EPA concerning limit of 4 but still, it’s twice as high as our upstairs. Wouldn’t mind reducing that number more so just to be safe.

Hi, momonwestside, it looks like you may want to start here: https://www.seattle.gov/sdci/codes/make%C2%A0a-property-or-building-complaint

In any case, even if that’s the wrong page, I believe SDCI is the department that would handle that.

Try Alki Mail just a few blocks west on Admiral. Under normal conditions one of the bank branches would be an option. If the information is not sensitive you could ask a neighbor with a printer to make a copy for you. Good luck.

you can always come up to Jefferson Square, to the UPS Store. But that’s in the Junction. I used to be able to make copies at the coffee shop, that Don owned, on Admiral Way hill, kitty corner to the new fancy Nursing Home…..but not sure since Don sold awhile ago if those same services (postal/copies etc) are still available.

I could be available for you and the children ASAP. However, I am a caregiver for my granddaughter on Tues. and Wed. Her mother is a nurse at UW Medical Center. I am looking to help families/students out during these challenging times for our schools. I have decades of experience in many different school settings and even ran an in- home Daycare in our home a looong time ago:))
Please contact me if you’d like to chat more about your needs. I’d love to hear more about what the two families need for a successful school year and happy kids! Thank you.

Psst: I don’t see any way to attach my resume here. Please contact me at: jps@frinjefashion.com and then I may send it to you via email. Thanks!

Leaves really only need to be removed from sidewalks, etc., where they might cause a slipping hazard, and away from storm drains. Five minutes with a stiff broom should do the trick. Unfortunately, a lot of “mow & blow” outfits blow leaves into the street and don’t pick them up. I also remove leaves that collect on evergreen shrubs (especially conifers) to prevent damage to the foliage. Otherwise, leaves provide beneficial mulch over the winter. I usually do my leaf cleanup in the spring, and then only in more formal planting beds. In healthy, naturalistic plantings and landscapes, they can be left to compost down.

The neighbors leaves seem to accumulate in my driveway, when wet they become slippery.. then they get tracked into the house. Plus they plug up the city surface water drain down the street.
So, what I’m getting at is.. If the home owner cleaned up the leaves before the wind blows them into my yard and everyone else’s (too), then I wouldn’t have to run the blower to clean up the mess.

The home owner is responsible to clean up the snow from the sidewalk in front of their house. If someone was slip and fall, they can file a claim with your home owners insurance. same thing applies for leaves.
