Does anyone have any ideas for petitioning the Seattle Police Dept to increase regular patrols in the worst crime areas of West Seattle. I live near Alki Beach, for example, and the noise, loud music, drag racing, partying, fighting and occasional gunfire is an every night, all night situation. We all wait patiently and hopefully for the police to come but they seldom do. Why is this? I know other areas of WS experience the same issues at night and weekends. Is anyoone interested in starting a petition that all of could sign, including and especially the owners of our rental homes and apartments who don’t seem to care what we have to put up with as long as they get their rent.

Our phones are still out. They switched us to fiber in 2022, however when merge occurred phones went dead. We have made many calls to no avail and had techs here who could do nothing as said it was somewhere in CenturyLink/Lumen and not at out location. We were told to unplug the system at the box once a week. Still nothing. Two red lights – no green for the phones. We thought we heard something through one of the phones yesterday and were hopeful. Still dead. Phones have been down since March 17. We got a notice that if we tried to make any changes whatsoever, we’d lose our lifetime rates. There was no phone number on the card notice. We’d thought we’d check to see. Thanks.

Hello!

Trying to get rid of a unique cabinet that used to hold older televisions. I believe it’s solid wood, but it’s got a sort of plyboard back with a cutout for the back of a TV. It won’t hold a very big tv, but if you prefer a smaller one (probably no bigger than 32″) it can keep it tucked away or you can use it for anything else, of course!

It has a small sort of power strip on the inside with a couple of plugs, and a cord you can use to act as an extension cord. I don’t know if it has surge protection.

The bottom doors had their knobs broken off in the last move, but I still have the knobs (a little scratched) and it should be as easy as finding the right screw to put them back on (or replace them, whatever you like).

I live a block away, and it’s annoying the ever-living daylight out of me! I hear it at all times of day, but particularly at night. Good to know a more precise location.

It could help to leave a note on their windshield. If the owner lives on the side opposite the car, it’s possible they may not hear it and be completely unaware that their car is being such a nuisance. It may help to leave a note on their car asking them kindly, but firmly, to get it fixed ASAP. Keep in mind that, if they weren’t aware, it can be mortifying to learn that they’ve been THAT GUY.

I’ll search it out next time I hear it, but could use some help if you can get there faster.

My kiddo is a couple years younger but we’ve found friends for play dates through the activities he does like pokemon at meeples, cooking classes, sports, after school care/YMCA campus for summer and break childcare, and church. The Y Kid Zone for child care while the parent is elsewhere is also a good spot for my kiddo to make friends.

This system plays a critical role in helping to reduce the amount of polluted water runoff introduced into the local watershed, which in our case is the Puget Sound. With safety of the environment in mind, we strive to implement landscape maintenance practices that are ecologically sustainable – such as mulching grass clippings and the use of organic fertilizers and chemicals. Our maintenance practices and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: natural drainage system maintenance of bioswales, rain gardens and a retention pond, ornamental plant care, tree care, turf grass maintenance, irrigation maintenance and installation, landscape bed design/installation, and general construction and maintenance tasks.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prioritize safety with every task; ensure proper training and tools are available before completing any responsibility, as well as request support when needed
Provide grass maintenance such as mowing, trimming, mechanical edging, fertilizing, mulching, dethatching, seeding
Provide ornamental plant care such as pruning, fertilizing, and transplanting
Provide tree care and maintenance such as canopy raising, pruning, and realignment
Use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to control weeds and pests while limiting any potential impact on the surrounding environment; this may include identification, sheet mulching, mechanical/manual weed removal, and organic herbicide applications
Perform weekly, documented playground and greenbelt inspections
Assist with the maintenance of irrigation systems (i.e. repairs, modifications, and new installations)
Assist with maintenance of drainage systems and related components
Assist with care and maintenance of landscaping equipment, including vehicles, power equipment, hand tools, etc.
Maintain a clean and well-organized organized maintenance area

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma (or equivalent)
Proficiency in landscape management highly preferred – with generally between 1-2 years of experience; WSDA pesticide applicators licensed a big plus

Hello. I’ve been really trying to set up more play dates for my son, but it’s not been easy. My son has been asking about more play dates and sometimes will say “I wish you were a kid so we could have play dates.” Crushing. We live near Westcress Park and will try our luck on the playground some days. Not many kids his age are there. Anyway, if you’re in the area and have a kiddo in his age myself or wife would love to meet up. I have no idea if this is even allowed here, but I’m trying to be more aggressive in finding him kids his age to hang out with. I grew up in small town Colorado in the 80’s/90’s and we all just walked around outside until we bumped into someone and became friends. Times are not the same so I’m trying this out. We have a friend that found just the right solution. Exterminators are the #1 choice, however if you can’t afford one. Get some cotton balls, sugar, borax. Mix 1/2 cup sugar with 1-1/2 tbls borax and 1-1/2 cup water. You could use a mason jar or any other glass container you will use for nothing else. Take the cotton balls and soak in the solution. Use tweezers or something like that to take out. These soaked cotton balls can now be put into cracks where you see or think ants are coming in, plus in areas that you see them. Just leave them, even if harden. Ants will take solution to colony and soon they will be done. We have watched this at a friend’s house in amazement. She even put out on top of a mailbox outside that they were crawling up and various places on front porch. She had them in 2 bathrooms, the kitchen, front porch, mailbox and some other places. Now all there is are the cotton balls and no ants unless they are dead. We had another friend that just made a paste on a plate and hid it away where ants were. Neither of these people have children, however do have cats. Just please take care in placement for protection of young children and pets. This will take care of the ants!!!

Hello west Seattle, seeking help if possible. We were picking up my child yesterday at Bright Horizons and my dad dropped his wallet. It was either right in front as we were turning onto Fauntleroy or he might’ve lost it anywhere around that area near where habit burger is and the admiral bus stop. it’s black, Velcro type. My dad is a veteran so it had his military IDs and everything, in addition to the usual stuff. Most importantly it had his service (challenge) coin which is highly sentimental. If anyone has found it, can you please let me know?? The coin is truly the most important thing if we can at least get that back.
