SRed Wiggler worms for compostingummer’s over and it’s time to clean up your garden and yard. Yard waste and/or kitchen scraps can be composted into living soil ready for next year. The key is using red wiggler worms, mushroom mycelium, and beneficial microorganisms.

How? I’ve been composting for years and can share a compost starter much like sourdough or kombucha. Imagine a 32 ounce takeout container full of mature compost to jumpstart your compost bin or pile.

All of this and your questions answered too for only $20.

Dog Walking Route Details: We have immediate openings for WEST SEATTLE Weekday dog walkers. These positions work well for someone looking for part-time work, 2-5 hours a day. Candidates must be available Monday through Friday, from roughly 9am-2pm.

All Close to Home Dog clients are human-friendly and vetted for staff. All walks are private leashed walks in their neighborhood. Some dog walks are more than one dog if they live together.

***We are hiring hourly from $21/hr.***

    Job Summary:

This is a physical job designed for true dog lovers. You will be walking independently and tasked with keeping clients’ pets safe and following any instructions provided by the client. We place great emphasis on safety, customer service, and self-reliance. Most walkers work an equivalent of 10-30 hours a week and find the flexibility that our company provides to be an ideal way to stay independent and balance other jobs, clients, or school with the freedom of self-employment.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Perform safe neighborhood walks on leash as directed by the client
    • Time management and communication to accept/deny service requests
    • Communicate with the office and clients within our select software platforms (we will train you on this!)

    • You are willing to submit to a background check
    • You have another form of income to help supplement this position

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of dog breeds and behavior can be helpful but not required
    • The ability to make quick decisions to keep dogs and yourself safe
    • Capable of walking more than one dog at a time
    • Comfortable walking dogs with special medical or behavior concerns
    • Time management skills to ensure on-time arrivals for all dog walks
    • Experience communicating with others via Slack

    Benefits and Perks:

    • Highly competitive industry pay
    • Paid Onboarding and Comprehensive Training
    • Casual dress code (dress for the weather instead of wearing a uniform)

    • Work at a company that respects you as an individual and creates healthy boundaries

What our team says about the company:

‘Close To Home has been an amazing place for me after leaving a high-stress job. Being outside, exercising, and connecting with animals is the perfect antidote for career burnout and has helped tremendously with my depression and anxiety. Plus, the miles I’m walking have conditioned me enough so I can do all the hikes that seemed out of reach previously.’

Eco Friendly Packaging is changing the way businesses think about sustainability. By using recyclable, biodegradable, and reusable materials, companies can reduce waste and protect the environment while still delivering quality packaging. Many brands, including Jahangir Packages, are adopting eco friendly solutions to make a positive impact on the planet.

What are your thoughts on this shift toward sustainable packaging? Do you believe eco friendly packaging can completely replace plastic in the future, or are there still challenges that need to be solved? Let’s discuss! 💬

If you’re shopping for good window replacement options, go with brands that offer strong warranties, energy-efficient glass (like double- or triple-pane), and solid frame materials (vinyl, fiberglass, or wood-clad). Ask for local installers in your region to compare estimates and customer reviews. McDowell Glass is a solid option in Western North Carolina.

Seattle Glass and Window was a great experience no pushy sales tactics like the big-name companies. They offered quick service, fair pricing, and knowledgeable staff. I’m really happy with the results. If you’re comparing estimates, it’s also worth checking out a trusted Glass Repair Service like McDowell Glass for quality work and honest advice.

Pretty sure drivers yield to pedestrians in all cases legally speaking. Sounds like there may be some vagueness around non-cross walk areas, depending on whether it’s considered an intersection or not.

Morally speaking, a vehicle is a deadly weapon and the operators of such vehicles need to respect that fact and the PRIVILEGE it is to drive a car at all.

I just wanted to drop a recommendation for Strong Hammer & Brush for exterior house painting and carpentry here, in case anyone’s looking to get that type of work done. At the very beginning of this year, I got estimates from several companies to paint the exterior of my 1940s Highland Park home and to rebuild exterior stairs that were starting to rot. All estimates I received were in the same ballpark, but what I appreciated about Peter from Strong Hammer & Brush was his attention to detail, personability, and communication regarding what he and his team would do to get my home ready for painting and to preserve the longevity of my home’s exterior (I still have cedar siding, which I love). He also asked me thoughtful questions about my preferences for stair design and offered some color suggestions where I was waffling, which I appreciated. We communicated back and forth via email regarding the contract and scheduling, and Peter was quick to respond to any questions I had. Prep, painting and carpentry began on schedule and was completed pretty quickly. My house looks so lovely—I’m very happy with the work that was done. The only work that wasn’t anticipated in the initial estimate was repair of a window casing and sill where rot was discovered during pressure washing. The additional cost for materials and labor seemed very reasonable, and the repair looks great. My new exterior stairs are very nice—they are solid, really attractive and the design goes well with the style of my house. I highly recommend reaching out to Peter Shank if you’re looking to have painting and/or carpentry work done! https://www.stronghammerandbrush.com/

I lost a handmade paring knife at Lowman park the evening of 8/12. It has two red stripes along the wooden handle (see picture). It was made by a dear family friend and I foolishly brought it to the park to cut a dessert I made. I’d love to find it again! Matching knife handle
