As long as they have BACON I’m sure it will be delicious!
Thanks for the complement of Edtard….kinda a sad story posted in an older thread…. :(

Thanks – we are discussing weather as it happens in a thread on the main page including buses (I will add what you wrote here):

West Seattle traffic alert: New ID rules may bring port-area delays
Note that if you bike to/from West Seattle and use Alaska/Marginal, you’ll be riding with more trucks. I personally have reported parked trucks blocking the bike lane, shoulders and using the center “turn lane” of Marginal to SDOT before. This could create a bigger problem for us. Trucks who are impatient tend not to yield to right-of-way traffic. Be careful!
And please note that today the City Council passed new legislation that is supposed to, well, cut down on cutdowns … although three big trees could be cut on a 5,000-sf lot in the course of a year and you have to wonder how many lots that size have that many trees left. I’m also wondering how the bill will play WRT development … there are many lots around here that have had many more than three sizable trees chopped away for homebuilding in recent years.

If the monitors are CRTs, you’ll find they are probably a liability and not an asset, now: your best bet is likely recycling–the good news is, it’s now free! If you can wait until after March 30, you can even call Seattle Public Utilities for a pickup. If you can’t wait, you can take them to a dropoff point: http://www.ecyclewashington.org

Hi All: Just in time for your weekend, Duckies Rule! brings the video of the Ducky Rescue Squad dropping off carnival refugee duckies for recuperation and new occupations at the West Seattle Ducky Reserve (my place). (Reported earlier at https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3751).
IT was way too cute! Just before Valentine’s.
I alleged it could have been celeste17 and a co-conspirator. She denies it. Check the video and get back to me.
Other usual suspects include newly arriving http://www.Duckplanet.com people who moved to West Seattle recently, but they also deny being part of the “ducky underground railroad.”
See the video here: http://www.youtube.com/user/ADuckyLife
There was a thread a while back https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3214
You can use the search box(top right of this page) to find anything that has come up here for chat:)
I just saw the recent West Seattle Herald (print version) and saw that there are many letters to the editor about their recent article on papers vs. blogs – and they’re not very pro-Herald either, which was a nice surprise since they printed them. Several are from people who post here.
You can see them online at: http://www.westseattleherald.com/letters-to-the-editor – they recently revamped their website (no surprise) so you’ll have to click through each letter title on the left to figure out which one is about the article. (Why can’t they just have all the letters in one place?)
If you missed the original story about this, you can read about it at https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3783
We have one unsolved murder; the Fauntleroy Way case resulted in an arrest 13 hours after the victim’s body was found.

Speed limits are set by SDOT, not SPD, although the police do enforce them. SDOT answers to elected city government, so if you want to complain, you can send feedback through the mayor and council, all reachable through their pages on
http://seattle.gov
Postscript on this one. It does take several days for the reports to make it through the SPD system and be cleared for media release. I got them late Monday and published them in a roundup of reports on Tuesday – turns out that on the south half of the Peninsula, there were SEVEN last Thursday night/Friday morning.

If this issue is new to anyone (it’s been in the works for a year), our coverage is all archived in its own category:

My personal belief is that we hear a bit more from Highland Park because a lot of folks there are alert and aware. We published maps recently showing a month’s worth of crime trends around West Seattle and it was fairly evenly distributed. See them in this post:
https://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=13410
Meantime, this may or may not be the same database for what Scott B pointed you to, but this is the jumping-off page for the SPD crime stats:

I go to Westside Unitarian Universalist Congregation here in West Seattle – they meet at the Masonic Temple near the Junction and would definitely recommend them as a place to check out that might meet your criteria. The website is http://www.wsuu.org and you can also read more about WSUU and the work that they do in the community in this WSB post: https://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=10952
UPDATE: Police say the owner has been found, apparently via one of the notes we published, either here or Twitter or Facebook. And we had JUST published a front page photo – have now deleted that but it was a cute critter so here’s the pic:

Just e-mailed from Officer Wind @ SW Precinct:
> While on patrol one of my squad mates just found a goat at 32 SW and SW
> Elmgrove St. Well groomed, brown and tan, black collar. She (maybe) is
> currently at the SW Precinct and Animal Control is on the way. Maybe we
> can find the owner fast before Animal Control gets here. Precinct phone
> is 206-733-9800 and clerk is on duty.

I just realized that the potluck time conflicts with a benefit concert my high school senior is organizing! If anyone wants to wander over to Grace Church at 2:30 we’d love to have you join us :)! Otherwise, I’d love to be at the potluck and hope you have a huge turnout and lots of fun!

If i do say so myself :) … our forum has done a pretty good job of covering all sides of this election with some really great assistance by WSB posting a link to the actual applications sent in by the candidates…
if nothing any of us says speaks to you.. read the candidates own assessments of the job and why they think they are qualified…
those job apps sure come in handy when you are hiring:)
Sorry – just found a related thread in the Rants & Raves section: https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3665. There still doesn’t seem to be a solid answer on when this will be fixed, though.
Glad to hear it, since we had the chance to feature one of the young musicians last week!

Just an add-on to SophieLola’s “comment” about Greentree…his/her ‘rant’ was also listed in this thread: https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3651
SophieLola – Just saying it was a ‘bad experience’ isn’t much of a review when no other details are provided.
