1st Ave lane closures may put more traffic onto Marginal as an official re-route option starting Monday 3/16
I always love a good referral, but was concerned their website had no mention of being licensed, bonded or insured. I checked https://fortress.wa.gov/lni/bbip/ to see if they were a registered contractor and nothing came up.
Always something to keep in mind when hiring a construction tradesperson. Especially in this economy where we are all trying to save a buck.
And almost as important, get your estimate in writing, and never feel pressured to pay anything upfront. Most contractors have accounts set-up with suppliers, so only on the rare occasion will you have to pay for materials up front.
I am interested to find out whether Artisan is licensed, as I have seen his work and could use a new painter.
Mike D, Yes it was, just over 1 1/2 years ago. https://westseattleblog.com/blog/?p=2696#comments
I remember when the major repave of I-35 was was done 6-ish years ago. Just above Alaska Street, on northbound 35th, (don’t remember which lane, not that it matters) somebody, I think I remember, at the time it being SDOT, or their contractor that had done the project, cutting a rectangle out of the newly laid blacktop. From my perspective from the parking strip, it looked like it just went down to the roadbed, as opposed to being a “hole” for access to utilities.
Either way, it was pretty stupid in my unprofessional opinion, and I wondered how long the “patch-up” would last.
I also wondered in more recent times, that if that was the spot that was referred to, here on WSB, as the hole that could swallow a car. (IIRC, someone had come up with a clever name for it!)

It seems to me that Mike from Puget mentioned that his partner was keeping a portion of the business going?

However, it sounds like it’s pretty much just through AAA. It’s really too bed. I’m hoping someone else will have a recommendation for you.

Who in West Seattle do we WISH delivered? Maybe they read the blog and will put it on a list of stuff to consider?
Azuma – Nothing would be sweeter than delivered, quality sushi!
Buddha Ruska – I’m there at least once a week.
Spiros – I love their “House” pizza almost more than “adult relations” (trying to keep my expressions PG)
Elliot Bay Brewery – Guilty pleasures: Cobb Salad and Bleu Cheese Bacon Burger
How about you?
As long as they have BACON I’m sure it will be delicious!
Thanks for the complement of Edtard….kinda a sad story posted in an older thread…. :(

West Seattle traffic alert: New ID rules may bring port-area delays
Note that if you bike to/from West Seattle and use Alaska/Marginal, you’ll be riding with more trucks. I personally have reported parked trucks blocking the bike lane, shoulders and using the center “turn lane” of Marginal to SDOT before. This could create a bigger problem for us. Trucks who are impatient tend not to yield to right-of-way traffic. Be careful!
And please note that today the City Council passed new legislation that is supposed to, well, cut down on cutdowns … although three big trees could be cut on a 5,000-sf lot in the course of a year and you have to wonder how many lots that size have that many trees left. I’m also wondering how the bill will play WRT development … there are many lots around here that have had many more than three sizable trees chopped away for homebuilding in recent years.

If the monitors are CRTs, you’ll find they are probably a liability and not an asset, now: your best bet is likely recycling–the good news is, it’s now free! If you can wait until after March 30, you can even call Seattle Public Utilities for a pickup. If you can’t wait, you can take them to a dropoff point: http://www.ecyclewashington.org

Hi All: Just in time for your weekend, Duckies Rule! brings the video of the Ducky Rescue Squad dropping off carnival refugee duckies for recuperation and new occupations at the West Seattle Ducky Reserve (my place). (Reported earlier at https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3751).
IT was way too cute! Just before Valentine’s.
I alleged it could have been celeste17 and a co-conspirator. She denies it. Check the video and get back to me.
Other usual suspects include newly arriving http://www.Duckplanet.com people who moved to West Seattle recently, but they also deny being part of the “ducky underground railroad.”

You can use the search box(top right of this page) to find anything that has come up here for chat:)
I just saw the recent West Seattle Herald (print version) and saw that there are many letters to the editor about their recent article on papers vs. blogs – and they’re not very pro-Herald either, which was a nice surprise since they printed them. Several are from people who post here.
You can see them online at: http://www.westseattleherald.com/letters-to-the-editor – they recently revamped their website (no surprise) so you’ll have to click through each letter title on the left to figure out which one is about the article. (Why can’t they just have all the letters in one place?)
If you missed the original story about this, you can read about it at https://westseattleblog.com/blog/forum/topic.php?id=3783
We have one unsolved murder; the Fauntleroy Way case resulted in an arrest 13 hours after the victim’s body was found.

Speed limits are set by SDOT, not SPD, although the police do enforce them. SDOT answers to elected city government, so if you want to complain, you can send feedback through the mayor and council, all reachable through their pages on
http://seattle.gov
Postscript on this one. It does take several days for the reports to make it through the SPD system and be cleared for media release. I got them late Monday and published them in a roundup of reports on Tuesday – turns out that on the south half of the Peninsula, there were SEVEN last Thursday night/Friday morning.
